Eastbourne's Oldest Theatre
Situated close to Eastbourne Pier, the Royal Hippodrome is centrally located to town, and delivers a wide range of performances through the year. From National theatre production companies, through to incorporating local community groups and school performances, the Royal Hippodrome boasts a full calendar of events.
From comedy, to musicals, tribute bands to local music groups, and films for Children, the Royal Hippodrome truly has something for everyone.
Steeped in history
Locals certainly have a soft spot for the Royal Hippodrome Theatre, which is rich in local history. The building itself is a design marvel, having been granted the Royal Patent by the then Prince of Wales in 1883. The building was designed by the same architect of several London Theatres, including the famous Savoy Theatre.
