We went to see the American Four Tops in concert at the Eastbourne Hippodrome and were absolutely delighted with both the venue and the performance. The theatre is a little gem and, although it has recently been the subject of a major renovation, it maintains a wonderfully cosy ambience. Because it is a small theatre all the seats have excellent views of the stage and the acoustics were brilliant. We were in at the back of dress circle but still had super views of the performance and delightfully found that we had a bar very close to our seats.
If you haven't tried it yet do give the lovely Hippodrome a go, it's charming, inexpensive and you won't be disappointed...

Visited Eastbourne and booked two shows, first was Bruce Springsteen tribute at the Royal Hippodrome Theatre. The band was great musians but didn't realise how many I didn't know but brilliant finish. The theatre is 150 years old but looks fantastic. We must keep these places open for the next generation. Two drinks were over ÂŁ10 so little on the experience side and no bar seating but we'll worth a visit.

Venue was nice, traditional theatre.

Bit strange for a live band to play to a seated audience & also not have a bar while the gig is on but the audience didn't seem to mind.

The Stewards let the venue down. I imagine they are mostly volunteers & over 'a certain age'
I was 'told off' by an elderly gentlemen for taking photos. I actually had a complimentary ticket from the band, reason being to take photos! but he insisted it was the bands request.
Stewards were constantly trying to keep people in their seats when they had previously been told it was fine to dance.
Once everyone got up dancing the Stewards just gave up!
After the show I heard two female Stewards discussing the band & how the venue wasn't right for them although feedback from ticket buyers was amazing.

This Theatre is just beautiful. We saw Elektrik Live Orchestra tonight. They were amazing and seemed to enjoy themselves as much as their audience did. The seats are so comfy. Lovely, tasteful decor and great staff. The atmosphere was warm and friendly.

We saw the Wizard of Oz last night and this show has something for the whole family. It’s very professional and the cast are amazing. A really friendly theatre with fantastic volunteers. The theatre has recently undergone a massive refurbishment and it’s looking great. The show was sold out and it is so good to see this gem of a theatre entertaining families at reasonable prices. Well done to all involved.
