This is an amazing hotel! The staff are friendly and couldn't do enough for you. The rooms were bright and airy and as for the food that was phenomenal. I would definitely recommend this hotel. The facilities are amazing too

Stayed here within the last 7 days but will not go back as overpriced and underwhelming. Front of house, bars and staff live up to the hotels rating, but get into the room it is definitely 3 star if not less. The rooms are 30 years out of date although the beds are comfortable. The windows in our room rattler all night and when reporting in the morning reception informed us they have wedges to stop the rattling. If thisis the case why not fit them. But worse was to come at breakfast, the milk jug had chips at the lip so when you poured the milk ran the side's and we found that some of the name had been used and put back on the table which is disgusting, not expect ed at a 1star hotel.
At the prices charged go elsewhere this is not a 5 star hotel.

Booked deluxe double room my expectation was traditional luxury. More like shabby chic or not even very chic! Rooms very tired but they are clean. No mini bar, 1 pack of standard biscuits, milk jiggers not fresh milk, nothing luxurious so far. Visited indoor pool which was pleasant and nice whirlpool. Enjoyed cocktails in lounge before we went out to dinner and there was seating outside available. Went for breakfast at 0900 and it was busy but had a pleasant table in the corner, ordered tea and coffee had to ask 3 more times before I received my coffee. Staff were uninterested and inattentive. We ordered our cooked breakfast despite a hot buffet available as we wanted fresh poached eggs. Waited 20 minutes which would be acceptable if, when you received your breakfast it was edible, eggs were overcooked, mushrooms greasy, bacon fatty, toast thin cheap bread. So disappointing, we weren't the only ones in the restaurant who were expressing their displeasure. The waitress I complained to apologised but didn't seem overly bothered. When checking out the receptionist kindly deducted extras from our bill as compensation and was excellent responding to my feedback. We travel a lot and we always say if you don't want to go home you've hadn't lovely stay.... We couldn't wait to get home on this occasion. For a 5 star I was disappointed.

This is still a lovely hotel, set in a great location, with good facilities. Problem is, it appears to be living off its past glories and these are fading. Don't get me wrong, our overall experience was lovely and we would go back if we wanted to at some stage, but the management are getting away with murder in some areas and they are living in the past. You cannot charge 5 star prices and have what appear to be foreign students serving (and cooking) in the restaurant for example, Nor is it acceptable in this day and age to have to ask 3 times at every meal or teatime for sweetner for your hot drink. Little things but which do have an impact on your stay.

How hard is it to cook 2 fried eggs and present them on hot plate together with some hot toast ? Apparently in Eastbourne it's very hard. "Toast" was no more than cold bread waived gently in front of the fire and presented freezing cold in a rack every morning - even asking for well done toast and well cooked eggs also seemed impossible. This is an establishment that still maintains men must wear a tie and jacket (preferred) in the evenings for dinner. To offer this surely you must provide the right staff to provide the service.

That aside, we had a lovely time. We had a lovely upgrade into a suite (thank you SLH) and the housekeeping and general service at reception were absolutely fine & friendly. The indoor pool was well used by us and the cookies and milk on offer for our six year old each night at bedtime were very well received.

We would definitely go back but please please please sort the breakfast team out. It happened 3 days in a row - not once. Please also invest in your dining room staff so they don't all have to speak like a robot and bring you what they think you ordered rather than what you asked for. You are paying top dollar room rates here so you expect top service. There is a big difference between the older staff members who have been there a long time and the new recruits who would be better off at a Travelodge reception. It's not enough to dress them in a smart uniform and ask them to smile.

Come on Grand (and Elite). Make the hotel Grand again.......

We stayed four nights at the Grand. It was a marvellous experience. The staff could not have been more helpful or thoughtful. The rooms were large and comfortable, and although there is no air conditioning, and no mini bar, neither were missed.

The hotel has a sense of a gently fading Edwardian grandeur, with tables and chairs scattered along the glassed in verandah, delicious high tea and its wide staircases and hallways. Located directly opposite the beach, but away from the raucousness of the pier, its location was ideal.

The hotel has lots of facilities, and has thought about what it is like to travel with children - there are facilities for them, including, on request, a slightly dated play station and games, which kept my youngest entertained, and the older ones amused by the 'ancient' technology.

I was utterly charmed by the Grand, and will definitely stay again when I next have the chance.

I love The Grand so I decided to treat myself and book a room last minute to chillax on my birthday. The check in staff were fabulous and recognised it was my birthday so upgraded me to an Executive Suite. I was also given a birthday card. How thoughtful!

My room was just fantastic! Room 17 , I think. Massive bed and a separate seating area. The bathroom was spacious and full of gorgeous Molton Brown toiletries.

I ate lunch on The Terrace and lounged around the open air swimming pool catching the sunny rays! I spent a little bit of time in the Spa, which was great. I didn't want a 'formal' dinner so I had a sandwich and the best gourmet chips ever in the cocktail lounge, oh and some wine! The service was superb.

The self service breakfast is excellent. I ordered smoked haddock and poached egg. Delish!

This is my fifth time at The Grand and it won't be my last. Love it! ❤️

We did love our stay although some details could be improved, such as cleanliness, overall and in the details. The hotel is a little outdated and definitely needs some repair but it works well as it gives you the impression of the days gone by. The staff are definitely not fit for a 5 star hotel but it isn't one, and they were all very friendly and nice.

We went here to celebrate my grandfathers birthday and we had a champagne afternoon tea. We were greeted at the door with a very polite man who led us through to the back of the hotel in which we took our seats next to the piano which sounded like it was playing. The surroundings were amazing, very grand and marvellous and the character of the building was astonishing. Our waiter was a young polite lady who delivered is the most delicious if cream teas which included cakes scones and sandwiches and a variety of different teas to pick from.. Although a little prices, you pay for what you get and the service was very good. Would definitely come here again and even stay the night ...

ample parking; very courteous staff; sitting area outside; lots of seating indoors in various lounges; fabulous ambience in the breakfast room; grand rooms throughout the ground floor with high ceilings and reminiscent of bygone years.

Absolutely loved how grand this hotel was and the location is amazing The staff were very attentive (parking the car for us, recommending restaurants, etc). We had a base level "deluxe room" facing the rear of the hotel. The room was huge with a massive comfortable bed. It had obviously been recently refurbished. Breakfast in the morning was fantastic (with a few people drinking bottles of champagne at 9am!). The swimming pools (indoor and outdoor) are great and there is also a steam room and sauna plus a gym.

This is possibly the nicest hotel I have ever stayed in and, for the price we paid, was an absolute steal. I can't wait to return!

The Grand Hotel is grand.
Impressive, large very interesting architecture and welcoming.
Staff met us at door took car parked it. luggage to room. Very impressive. Check in friendly and efficient.
Restaurant large, good menu but very poor and limited red wine list. good service and seating.
Afternoon tea delicious but expensive.
Rooms very disappointing. We had a suite, not cheap but was really just a large bedroom with no air con, suspect plumbing and old furniture. Go for a cheaper room..
Corridors need a face lift.
Staff very attentive, management always running and preoccupied.
Breakfast self service and/or by menu and served. Both very good.
Hotel overpriced but comfortable.
Eastbourne busy and lots of restaurants, shopping and things to do for families.

Took advantage of the 3 nights for price of 2 offer and upgraded room type with the saving . Had a lovely sea view j suite with comfortable seating area .
The hotel staff are lovely really friendly and made us feel very comfortable .
The outside heated swimming pool is a lovely treat but the inside spa faculties and pool are dated and need a full upgrade to meet today's standards . It's a shame As spa treatment products and staff were really top class .
Would stay again and would recommend .

We so enjoyed this fabulous place. This is a step into charming restrained elegance that really makes you realise what luxury can be. Our room faced the sea and was a delight if not huge. Drinks in the lounge was delightful and breakfast went on and on and on. Wonderful!

Stayed one night in July to attend our niece's wedding. We had pre-booked and paid for a parking space and as soon as we drove in we were escorted to our reserved parking space with no problem. Indeed, the majority of the wedding guests who hadn't paid for reserved parking all managed to park at the hotel with staff in attendance in the car park to make sure no-one was blocked in or moving cars if necessary. Very well organised! So, being our first visit to this Hotel we were very impressed.

Our check in was very quick and efficient and all the staff were very friendly and attentive. We only had one night here and was attending the wedding all day so did not use much of the facilities of the Hotel so cannot comment on those.

Our room was clean and comfortable.

The wedding went off well and the food provided by the Hotel was fantastic - well done to all involved.

Breakfast the next morning was very good and we left feeling very contented.

We will be returning again because we have an afternoon tea voucher to redeem and are looking forward to booking this up.

Once again, well done to everyone at the Hotel for making the wedding weekend most memorable - you can be proud of yourselves,

I took 5 friends here for a celebration. Online it is offered as a mini pamper day. The hotel looks amazing from the outside and as you walk in, but as you squeeze into a small elevator and the ceilings get lower, you find the health spa. Staff were very friendly and helpful, however nothing could take away the less than 5* facilities. We didn't have our light lunch in the restaurant or anything special but near the health spa welcome desk (better than the alternative option of in the stuffy pool area). It was a lovely day and one friend wanted to go outside to have a smoke. This is when we found the gorgeous setting of the outside pool, live music and sun loungers. We set up camp. Then were told, that our spa day didn't include the outside pool. Thankfully, they allowed it for today as the weather was nice and the place was quiet. Unfortunately, it had just put a dampener on our last hour there. I was just expecting something.. more grand. The day was £55 each which we know isn't expensive. But I've certainly been to better spa days for less money.

Decided to visit the Grand for my birthday, stayed 2 nights in an Executive Sea View room, from start to finish, the staff could not have been more attentive. Greeted on arrival by a concierge who offered to unload the luggage and park the car in our reserved space. Dinned in the Mirabelle on both nights, both the Table D'Hote and A La Carte menus offered a wide range of starters, main courses and deserts, knowledgeable manager assisted with wine list (sommelier was on holiday). Nice touch with the deserts, each has a recommended dessert wine, which did not disappoint.

We had afternoon tea for two and champagne. The setting was grand enough, but atmospheric temperature regulation was 'less than perfect'. The service we received was 'good' but I fancy it was Not - for the people sitting at the next table (...if it had been me, frankly I would have had a discreet but frank word with the Maitre-D' ).

The food was nice enough and pretty much what you'd expect (although I do have to say the scones weren't a match for the 'fantastic ones' we once had at the Woolsey).

Background music and volume was first class.

We were unlucky and had a dodgy room.. it was a little unclean, quite dated and damaged in places (maintenance was very poor). The bathroom was horrible. We were moved to another room when I complained and it was a lot better to be fair (less damage and poor maintenance etc).

It's not cheap to stay here so I was not impressed with the quality of the room for the money you pay. The rooms are very dated and they are not that well kept.

The hotel itself is lovely and very grand.. great look from the outside, good location, big grand hallways, nice bar, pool and lobby area etc....

I was a little disappointed with our stay but it was not awful. My disappointment is partly due to the cost and 'value' of our experienced.

The pool is lovely.

Breakfast was lovely and in a very nice setting. Highly recommend. Huge room with very high ceiling and lots of space. Great quality food and service. Enjoyed this.

Hopefully we were just unlucky with the room - because other than this, it was a great place to stay.

I can't rate this higher than Average because of our experience but hopefully you have better luck..

Booked afternoon tea for our anniversary and was expecting great things from this 5 star hotel....travelled 30 miles to come here.
We waited quite a while to be served and a further wait for the tea etc to be brought to us.
When we needed a tea refill, there was nobody about and I had to go and search for somebody to help, I eventually got a waitress who brought us tea and promptly removed my cup and the sugar....I had to call her back!
Nobody came up and asked if 'everything was OK'
Any waitresses that were around were indifferent and oblivious to our needs.
Hey, this is a 5 star hotel! with prices to match.
Would I return? No!

This was lovely! It was so good to be treated with respect and a courteous approach by all members of staff!
The food and service was wonderful!
We had a marvelous time and look forward to returning.
The only criticism was the bed size, would have loved at least a king size bed!
Either that, or we will loose weight before the next visit!
Either way, it was still one of the best hotels we have stayed in!
Thank you!

This is supposed to be a five star hotel. I would not call it that by American standards but it was a lovely place to stay. The decor is supposed to be reminesence of the late 1800s early 1900s and the dining room and foyer do come across that way. Thought he flies need to be removed from a lot of the drapes and light fixtures. My husband and I just got a standard room on the backside. The bathroom was updated and the room clean, there is no central air in the hotel so at nights it did get a bit warm but it was pleasant. The "spa" seemed fine but the changing areas need more cleaning and an update it was a little gross to step on the floor barefoot and onto the wet carpets. The workout facility was ok but needed new flooring. Got a facial from BeBe and she was awesome , but got a back massage from someone else and was not good. The service in the Garden was good. The food was ok but seemed like it had sat under a heat lamp for awhile but the table service was great. The outdoor pool was clean and nice though a little too cold for me to swim in. The service out on the terrace was horrific. We waited a half hour to get noticed and saw some people leave bc they waited too long. The service was just disorganized and slow, the management were very apologetic but we canceled our reservations to eat I the hotel after that. Overall a good experience and we would stay their again, but we definitely know what we will be getting into if we go again.

I can't begin to express how much I enjoyed my recent stay at the Grand. Staff were always hospitable, polite, but, most importantly, caring. My card key had a problem, and the lady at reception was so keen to help me, just because she wanted our stay to be the very best; there was no sense of duty or majority. Antiquated, possibly, but staff were always hospitable, friendly, polite, and delightful. I can't wait to go back again! My favourite place in the UK!
