We celebrated a friend’s birthday with a girls’ afternoon tea at The Grand on 28th May. How delightful.

The sandwiches and cakes were tasty, the setting was lovely and the service attentive but not intrusive. We decided to treat ourselves to a glass of Prosecco too which made the occasion even more enjoyable!

We left two hours later content knowing we’d done justice to our treat and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.

Not cheap but definitely worth the extra for the attention to detail.

Entrance & public areas downstairs are fairly grand, felt that the rooms very dated in decor & not very grand at all, made use of the pool which was nice, unfortunately jacuzzi was out of order. The bar prices were expensive & so was the restaurant & wine, cannot complain about the food itself. Restaurant, although in a very large room was so hot & I had to step outside for a moment (being pregnant did not want to overheat or faint), the breakfast was very very good, although the hot food ordered from the menu unfortunately came out at different times for our party of 6. My overall view of this hotel is the dated rooms are overpriced, compared to The Grand at Brighton which was much more 'grand' & tastefully decorated & better value for money. I wouldn't stay at the Eastbourne Grand again.

Our initial expectations were certainly met upon arrival, the porters were excellent dealing with our car and luggage, Reception staff likewise dealt with our checking efficiently. We had arrived a little early and so had to wait 30 minutes for our room to be finished so went out onto the Terrace. Unfortunately no one appeared to be serving despite quite a few of the tables being occupied so we had to retreat inside to order. The decor was lovely but the head batman was, well just noisy! He was speaking far too loudly, so we heard all his gossip.
The hotel was at capacity as it was the finals of the tennis so the best room that we could get was one with a side sea view, despite that we did have a lovely view of the sea. But the room was disappointing. Although it was certainly big enough it had a very small double bed, barely bigger than a single. The bathroom could also do with a refit, carpet on the floor next to the toilet is never going to be hygienic and a plastic shower curtain??? Isn't this hotel supposed to be 5 star?
Breakfast was as you'd expect very busy but the staff coped well and we only had a brief wait for a table to be readied for us, the buffet, whilst not the best I've ever seen, was certainly good enough.
Would I return? Yes probably, the Receptionist suggested that she make a note under my name asking for a bigger bed next time, so I guess maybe I should.

We went for a few days while the Tennis tournament was on, and really enjoyed the stay. The service was excellent from taking the car on arrival through every aspect of the visit. The outdoor pool was lovely, and we enjoyed being so close to the sea. Our room was comfortable and spotless, and the surprise was a live band and dancing on Friday evening which was great fun. We hope to go back for a weekend a bit later this summer to enjoy the experience all over again.

I attended a surprise birthday/retirement party for a friend this week and had a brilliant time. The three course meal was superb, the organisation was spot on and could not fault it. Well done to everyone who helped to make it such a splendid evening.

This hotel lives up to it's reputation in every way. I have just spent three days at the hotel with my 92 year old mother. The hotel staff were delightful and very well trained in dealing with an elderly person. The hotel itself, may not be the most modern but we were really looking for comfort and luxury, which is exactly what we got. My mother enjoyed a massage in the Spa and we sat by a lovely outdoor pool. Eastbourne is perfect - flat, clean and pretty. We ate in local Italian restaurants, which were very good indeed. The hotel dining room is quite formal...not our scene! To be recommended.

From the moment we arrived we felt welcome, especially our 3 year old grandson, who luxuriated in the big spaces, warm smiles, and the bucket and spade handed to him at check in. In every way it turned out to be a perfect place to have a 3 generation family holiday: enough luxury to suit the older ones, together with the informality preferred by the younger. This does not happen by accident: the quality and self-confidence of the well trained staff is the key. Admittedly, there is a sense of tiredness in some of the furnishings, but the style with which service is provided, more than compensates.

A beautiful hotel inside and out with some of the most welcoming staff that I've encountered. The bedroom was very comfortable with all of the furnishings that you would expect. On checking out we asked to use the swimming pool and the staff were only too happy to show us to the health club. If you go to Eastbourne, I can throughly recommend The Grand Hotel. Oh and the breakfast was fantastic.

My friend and i were looking for somewhere lovely to enjoy a spa day.....we couldn't have picked any better. We were welcomed by very friendly staff who made our day very special. The facilities are spotless and lots of little extras make it special. The cost of our spa day included a lunch of a good choice of sandwiches (which were lovely!) a pot of soup and crisps along with a fresh juice and a coffee. Also included was one treatment, we both opted for a neck and back massage, which proved to be equally excellent and the beautician's were very friendly and welcoming.
All in all, a lovely day in lovely surroundings with brill staff. Cant wait to go back!

Even before crossing the threshold you know you are somewhere special. The staff are welcoming and attentive without being overly so. The dining experience is good as you would expect and the bar areas comfortable. The hotel is situated at the western end of the seafront and is only a few steps across the road from the town's renown seafront promenades. All in all this is a splendid hotel that still retains much of its' period charm and elegance. Certainly well worth a visit.

A lovely hotel to spend a few days in. The quality of service is excellent. I would say that the restaurant food is extremely good but a touch slow. We were there for two hours each night and would have preferred a quicker service. We took our two dogs and they were very well received with beds brought to the room and a great chicken dinner served to them each night. The two swimming pools were very warm and well looked after and the general experience was 'stately' .

I've just had a night at The Grand in Eastbourne. I only live down the road in Hastings, but have friends in Eastbourne,so we always stay here when we're visiting them. The Grand has a special place in my heart. I always feel so welcome in this hotel. From the doormen, to reception, to housekeeping, they are all super lovely. To me, the George V Paris is the benchmark for greatness and I'm going to say that this place is pretty much up there as far as service and care for guests is concerned. The hotel has a wonderful history and still carries that aura of a glittering bygone era, but still very much in the modern world. It is apparently the only 5 star hotel on the coast now. And it really does deserve its stars.
The afternoon tea is a must in the hall. And last but not least I want to say a big Thankyou to the fabulous guys behind the bar. They are kind, fun, nothing is too much trouble and they really do make the best Mojito. Trust me, I've stayed in a lot of hotels around the world and I've drunk a lot of Mojitos and theirs really is the best. In fact, what are you waiting for, go to The Grand immediately and order one!

Beautiful hotel is all I can say. We came here for a single evening (and the following day!) to conduct a pre-wedding photoshoot in the nearby Birling Gap and Beachy Head area. The staff were fabulous and were more than happy to let us use their facilities even after we checked out. The room was very large, clean and the toiletries provided were of a high quality (Molton Brown) if I had a gripe it was that a fridge was only available on request though the Hotel told us this is due the fact they offer a 24 hour concierge service.

Location was fabulous, out of the lobby and across the road and you're at the Beach (a nicer quieter part than near the pier) All in a all a very good hotel and pleasurable stay

From the doorman to the receptionist to the bar staff and those in the restaurant everyone in this hotel smiles and says hello to you. They genuinely want you to have a good time here. The rooms are comfortable but lack one or two modern touches but that is not a problem. Great food too.

This was a reunion weekend for a successful 4 week tour in America and Canada and it was important that it all went well and we continue partying together. The Grand delivered well ahead of our upper expectations. The rooms were good as was the food. Every member of staff was helpful and cheerful. Our final dinner in the Mirabelle Restaurant was of the highest order. We arranged the booking for 25 rooms and the dinners through Claire Funnell who was courteous, efficient and a delight. She also arranged for us to have exclusive use of a car parking area which was essential for our purpose. Big thanks and a high recommendation. To the extent that several participants intend returning on their own in the future

Wow...this hotel lives up to it's name...'GRAND'. Unlike it's namesake in nearby Brighton this hotel has lost none of it's 'shine' and still retains it's Edwardian splendour. The staff could not do enough to make the guests feel comfortable and at home and the rooms, although not all have great views (mine was a car park) are of a very high standard, clean and very comfortable. We are already planning a return visit with friends in the next few months.

This hotel was great. We arrived and some parked the car for us and took our bags. Check in was very easy and nothing was too much trouble.

We walked through the main part of the hotel and saw the lounge and dining area which was lovely and classic. I know others have said it needs an update but the classic look was part of the charm.

We went to out room which was number 410. The main lift didn't go all the way to our room so make sure you say if you have accessibility needs. The location of the room was perfect as we had no neighbours and no one above us. It was lovely and quiet so I had a good nights sleep. The room itself was dated but with none of the classic charm of the hotel. Except for the Molton brown toiletries it didn't feel like a five star room. Nothing grand about it. The bed was a decent size and not too hard or soft.

The breakfast was good. There is a good variety although you can wait a while for toast which we did have to chase for on occasion. The cooked breakfast was done to perfection and there was such a big variety of juices. Again, the room was classic with nice touches such as fancy cutlery and china.

My wife and I have just returned from our stay at this wonderful Hotel.

Our meal in the Garden restaurant was wonderful, service was great. We and our two friends were very impressed - full marks to the maitre'd and his staff for their help and attention. 5 Star most definitely.
We had a lovely spacious room with wonderful views of the sea and downs. Service was impeccable, warm and friendly but also very professional. It was lovely to be greeted by the doorman, Gary, as we drew up in the car, our cases taken to our room and the car parked for us; and Madeline on reception has always welcomed us warmly. Fabulous and much appreciated.

The hotel overall is fabulous and the staff very smart and helpful, without being patronising. Food also very high quality and beautifully served.

I also booked a massage in the Spa and that was very relaxing.

However, the room we stayed in was dated, but the worst part of it was that the curtains were so old that the linings were torn from age. Also the bed was uncomfortable and squeaky. Not worth the room rate.

The 'Grand' is a very large 5-star hotel in a prime position on Eastbourne seafront. My wife and I stayed at the 'Grand' for three nights over the late May Bank Holiday weekend. I had previously alerted the hotel reservations office to the fact that this was a special weekend for us after a great many years of marriage and also that my wife needs to rest a lot during the day. We were allocated a beautiful 'executive seaview' room on the second floor with a sumptuous super-king size bed and a magnificent sea view - exactly what I was seeking. Check-in was flawless, friendly and efficient, and there was a card of congratulation and good wishes from the hotel staff! The porters took care of our car which was no mean feat on a weekend when there were many more cars than delineated parking spaces. Although we did not make use of all of them, the hotel has excellent facilities that are well-maintained. Of the two restaurants, the highly rated Mirabelle is the superior. We selected the 7-course tasting menu and were regaled with a most interesting sequence of sensibly portioned dishes. The whole meal was excellent and, in our view, very good value for £61 per head when compared with the normal a la carte menu. Breakfast in the Garden Restaurant offers a splendid buffet selection but there is also waiter service for those guests who wish it. This ensures the freshest of cooked items. A simple request at Reception ensured that our room was serviced each morning while at breakfast. Overall the 'Grand' fully merits its 5 stars and offers guests calm and comfort with unobtrusive, friendly and efficient service. We left reluctantly on the last morning but plan to return.

We have been going to The Grand for a few years now on short breaks. We find the staff extremely friendly and helpful, the rooms are always clean and the food in both restaurants is excellent. We tend to upgrade from the basic class to an outside room with a view, although there is no difference in quality.
An ideal please for rest and recuperation.
We love it.

Myself, mother in law and sister in law came here for the afternoon tea as a treat. We were thoroughly spoilt and well looked after. The food is beautifully presented and I was very impressed with the tea menu.

The staff are very well presented and very friendly. Nothing was too much trouble.

Excellent service provided all round. Well done! :)

We have just returned from a break at this hotel and once again it lived up to it's five stars. The hotel is the perfect venue for a weekend break or special family occasion celebration. We have stayed for both and we are never dissappointed. The accommodation is superb and the staff are so friendly and helpful, nothing is too much trouble. Situated right on the seafront, the location is perfect. There are two restaurants and the food and service are first class. There is a lovely walk along the seafront to Sovereign Harbour which has restaurants and cafes overlooking the water, and is certainly worth a visit. Beachy Head is the other way and there is a good putting green overlooking the sea. We love this hotel and can't wait for our next break there.

Stayed here for two nights and was very impressed at the comfort and service at this hotel. It is very quiet and calm. There is a lovely pool and there is also a gym although I only used the pool. We had afternoon tea which was delicious and not expensive in comparison to other hotels of a similar type. The room was large and comfortable. The only niggle was that when I wanted to watch the evening news the television was situated so that the only place one could comfortably watch it was sitting on the side of the bed. Breakfast was excellent and it was wonderful to have breakfast without having to listen to the normal background music. I would definitely stay again and would recommend it to anyone wanting a relaxing peaceful environment.
