Lovely hotel, exceptional staff,,delicious food,,terrible room. Recommend only if you select a suite. Try the iced tea in the bar and the afternoon high tea in the lounge. Stroll the waterfront, take a side trip to Hastings Battlefield.

A luxury hotel located a few minutes walk from the center of Eastbourne. The building was old, but it was clean and the staff were kind and friendly. It was a customer friendly hotel with a gift for children at check-in. I would like to stay again when I come nearby.

In the middle of a stay here and have been most impressed with the friendliness and professionalism of staff. We left our daughter in the kids club and the staff there were superb - allowed us two hours a day to work in the lounge, and she thoroughly enjoyed it. Service has been brilliant and there is always a smiling staff member at hand to help.

I went with a friend from Melbourne and the only fault we found was the biscuits in the room were lacking - poor quality. Other than that, ticked all the boxes. Excellent service from each and every one of the staff and breakfast was heaven.

Look the hotel was very lovely, staff lovely ... decorative hotel. My only problem would be the very overpriced alcohol, the swimming pool area was small..the breakfast was not very selective for a 5 star hotel.

We are two overworked hamsters who keep going back to the Grand to recharge our batteries. We love the rooms, the outdoor and indoor pool and spa, the scrumptious breakfast and yes, the grandeur of building, but what really makes it a home away from home is the exceptional staff. Everyone gets a warm welcome and we're always struck by their friendly professionalism in everything that they do.
It helps of course that it is superbly located, with Beachy Head and the magnificent South Downs offering some of the best walking in Britain. We'll be back soon!

A most pleasant and luxurious weekend break in Eastbourne in the fantastic Grand Hotel - an attentive, engaged and caring team offering great service in a beautiful environment. Some aspects are slightly tired, its not cheap (particularly the bar...), one of our meals was a little disappointing but the overall experience was wonderful.

Very impressed with the service and the facility. Highly recommend it. Staff was extremely courteous. The Breakfast and dinner was excellent. Had a lovely stay for a night. It was my birthday and the reception surprised us by upgrading our room. They even took care to bring a special desert with candles to celebrate.

Superbly located on the Sunshine Coast. Staff are faultless, food superb and a suite overlooking the Sea. 24 hours off switching off, swimming and enjoying lunch and tea in the lounge, finished by a cocktail made by the bar staff, which my wife found very moorish.

Great hotel in fab location. Nothing was too much trouble from start to finish. Brilliant location, very close to the shops and sea. Plenty of parking. Room was lovely but could do with air con during the summer.

Last weekend I had the pleasure of joining some very dear friends for Sunday lunch in your dining room. Both food and service were excellent. I chose the roast dinner and haven't tasted beef like that in years. Whoever sources the beef for your restaurant has my top vote.

I used to live and work in Eastbourne and often visit just for the day as I live in Folkestone. When I stay I always stay at the Grand where I have stayed on numerous occasions with my wife. We have stayed on wedding anniversaries and birthdays etc. We tried to book for 3 days in late June and were disappointed as we were told for the first time that you were fully booked. If a room does become available at short notice please let us know.
We did enjoy meals and drinks in the dining room etc and received meals from your excellent room service..My wife really enjoys your swimming facilities, sauna and steam room.
We did notice that some staff seem to be rushing around more than usual and wondered if you were temporarily short of staff .or they were being monitored for performance purposes.
I hope my comments and survey are helpful. Please let me know if a room does become available in late June. My recent stay was in room 329 which was excellent with a good sea view. .

A smart hotel with a good spa (pool, sauna and steam room) in a good location on the sea front and close to the town centre. We were treated in a pleasant way by all members of staff. They were also able to provide food and drink quite late into the evening.

I enjoyed a delightful couple of days and a night in Eastbourne in early May as a solo traveller seeking a spa break.

The hotel certainly has grand aspects. Its interior is spacious with high ceilings. And the bar has the most comfy armchairs I could have sat in for hours on end.

The spa offers towels, robes and flip flops. There are around half a dozen spa lounge chairs and a decent gym as well.
The female changing room is quite small and gives access to its own sauna.
The unisex steam room is located by the pool and Jacuzzi and is very dated with stained plastic seating which could definitely use an upgrade. The Jacuzzi comfortably fits 4/5 people. The indoor heated pool is small and I didn't use it but the outdoor pool is larger and best of all heated too. It was bliss swimming in that so if you can ignore the flies and wasps drowning beside you, you're all set.

I had room 146 on the first floor. The view overlooks the adjacent road so nothing special. It was a generously spacious and simply decorated room with a separate foyer entrance which holds the wardrobe. The bathroom was not large but had a bath with with a decent shower head included.

Extras that I liked included: Complimentary still bottled water which was replenished at turn down
A Nespresso coffee machine with kids (on top of your std instant coffee)
Molton Brown bathroom products
Hairdryer in the dresser drawer.
Magnified mirror in the bathroom.

The bed was rather disappointingly two twin beds pushed together so there was a small gap in between the two despite the bed being made as one double bed. I don't know if this is because I was a solo traveller.

The reason I've not rated the hotel higher is because of the incredibly soft mattresses. Yes I was only there one night but still. Upon check-out I mentioned the mattress and was told, yes they are soft however bed boards are available upon request. Just a shame they didn't tell me upon check-in, so I'm letting you all know now!

Our second visit to this generally outstanding hotel.
We had informed the hotel beforehand that we were celebrating our wedding anniversary so were somewhat upset that our room was nowhere as pleasant as the one that we had for our previous stay.
Breakfast was adequate without being outstanding. Toast was brought to our table but by the time it arrived it was cold!
However there was plenty of choice from the buffet with other choices freshly cooked if you wished.
Our check out was marred by the long wait to be attended. There was only one person on duty and he was having to deal with a complicated enquiry from the person being served.
This resulted in a lengthy queue building up.

Wow, what a hotel. We arrived and were concerned about parking, no need, a parking space had been reserved, sorted. The doors were opened by staff and we entered what can only be described as palatial. From the rich red rugs to the marble pillars, from the old paintings to the polished brass and gold fittings, everything screamed elegance and luxury. We stayed in a suite on the first floor and we were not disappointed. It was clean, spacious and once again opulent. The only downsize was the small double bed. For a room with so much space, my husband and I could not understand why such a small bed had been put in the room. This led to an uncomfortable nights sleep.

However, we dined in the Mirabelle restaurant on the Saturday night and it was amazing. The menu choices are enough to give a fair choice but not too much that you can’t choose. It was beautifully presented and cooked to perfection. The service was outstanding and made us feel like royalty. The whole professional and polite ethos is evident across the whole hotel. Staff smile, they are impeccably dressed and they are professional, polite and knowledgeable. Many hotels that my husband and I have stayed in exude this elegance, but few come close to the service we received.

I would give the hotel a 5 star rating based on the service alone, however, we stayed one night and I treasure a good nights sleep, which we did not have.

It is however well worth a visit just to be treated like royalty for one night.

No the rooms whilst spacious and elegant do not have an array of modern gizmos and state of the art technological electrics and lighting, or even bidets or mini bars (24 hour room service). What they do have is oceans of charm and character.

This hotel stands out head and shoulders above many, many others in the exemplary service given by a multitudinous staff in every aspect of the hotels interface with guests. it is extremely pleasant, polite and helpful. We have stayed in numerous luxury first class hotels throughout the world over 50 years but have never come across service to match this hotel nor architectural elegance either.

Alas one can't help thinking that this hotel is one of a dying breed of "Grand" Hotels!

Warm welcome, excellent service, nice décor, wonderful sleep in a soft bed - As this was a business trip, I would definitely go back there again for a relaxing stay. Right from the moment the doorman greets you - you instantly feel relaxed and welcomed.

We stayed as a family and used the indoor swimming pool and outdoor pool, both are very poplar.
Service was excellent through out the hotel. We had a family room which was also really good. They also have a playroom which is approve by Ofsted

I came for a weekend break to the Grand Hotel for the first time, and enjoyed the comfort of the room and use of the swimming pool, sauna and whirpool, the staff were excellent, I thought a lot of detail was given to ensure I had a very good stay.
