On Thursday 3rd April, we held our first ever fundraising dinner at La Locanda Del Duca in Eastbourne. Thanks to the hard work of Peter Sanders, all 110 tickets sold out well in advance, so we were all looking forward to a fabulous evening and we certainly weren’t disappointed.
The evening was brilliant from start to finish! We were all treated to an outstanding 3 course meal by the amazing team at La Locanda Del Duca, who were the most gracious of hosts. All attendees had a great evening, during which we all played games, held a raffle and had both silent and live auctions. Our auctioneer, James Hanaway, deserves a special mention for being highly entertaining and doing a wonderful job of helping us to raise over £9,000 on the night. The star lot of the night was a 5l bottle of Chianti Classico, which raised a jaw-dropping sum of £2,000 on its own!
We were all, of course, treated to a presentation from Chris, our founder and director, who told everyone, with his usual enthusiasm and passion, all about the charity, why we were all there that night and the ways in which Children with Cancer Fund help, support and make lifer easier for hundreds of families facing childhood cancer.
When the total from the evening had been added to the amount already raised through ticket sales and donations, we made a grand total of over £12,000. Thank you to Kevin McKenzie and Stanmore Construction, who very kindly donated over £2,000 of that total.
We would like to say a heartfelt thank you to everyone who was involved in making this event such a success. From everyone who donated raffle and auction prizes and those who bid on them to absolutely everyone who purchased a ticket to be there on the night. It was truly inspiring to see so many companies and individuals come together to support Children with Cancer Fund and make a difference to the lives of families living with childhood cancer.
Thank you to our sponsors for this event: Ginger & Sanders Sales and Lettings, Mango Insurance and Quality Care Group.
