1.2 million older people in the UK feel lonely and that is why here at Age UK East Sussex we offer a Befriending Service. A weekly chat from one of our volunteers can go a long way in helping someone, but we need your support to continue to make a difference to an older person who is lonely and isolated, especially this Christmas. Just £10 can support 2 people with a friendship call this Christmas or £10 a month can support someone with a weekly friendship call all year.
We do understand though, especially now with the cost of living crisis, being able to donate money to charity is not an option for some people, but could you donate a little of your time as a volunteer Telephone Befriender? We have so many people needing our support, especially now, that we really need support from volunteers, and you will be making all the difference to someone suffering through loneliness and isolation this Christmas.
