Care for the Carers needs your support to secure vital funding

We are relying on votes to increase our chances of winning funding of up to £5,000, which will enable us to reach more unpaid carers – people who look after a relative, friend or neighbour who couldn’t manage without them.

The funding would be used to offer a county-wide, monthly therapeutic support group – Beginnings – to former carers. Only projects with the most votes will become finalists, so additional support is vital.

Care for the Carers has been running support groups for former carers for the last year. We now want the opportunity to build on this project by providing more carers in East Sussex a space to explore the impact of the end of caring and personal aspirations moving forward.

Chief Executive Officer from Care for the Carers Jennifer Twist says: “Former carers have often dedicated their whole lives to their caring role and can struggle with this difficult transition. Not only are they coping with the loss of the person they care for, but also their own identity and changing the focus of their life.

“We want to be able to support more people in East Sussex by establishing a county-wide Beginnings Group. These sessions will enable former carers to meet with others in the same situation, express difficult emotions as a result of their loss and identify plans for the future.

To get behind Care for the Carers and help make a difference to unpaid carers in your local community, by visiting bit.ly/cftcbeginnings and submitting your vote before 21 November.
