Craig's radio adventure started as a DJ engineer at Southern Sound FM, a fledgling radio station in his hometown of Eastbourne. Unfortunately, the station relocated to Brighton and rebranded as Southern FM, leaving Craig disheartened, as it was Eastbourne's only claim to radio fame on the south coast.
Not one to be easily deterred, Craig channeled his love for music and radio into a new venture. He opened a night club under Topaz Snooker Club in Mark Lane, Eastbourne, but the allure of the airwaves persisted. Craig's passion led him back to broadcasting, where he found himself as a country show presenter on Valle Radio 89.8.
After Valle Radio closed its doors, Craig's journey continued, and he found a new home at Venom FM 106. Here, he took on the weekend breakfast show and also hosted country and Tuesday shows on Smooth FM. The experiences gained along the way honed his presenting skills and deepened his connection with listeners.
A pivotal moment came when Craig decided to venture into the world of entrepreneurship and launched his radio station, AMR 902, which soon transformed into Eastbourne Community Radio. As the station's founder, Craig's vision and hard work were instrumental in building a platform for diverse voices and music in the community.
However, Craig's biggest triumph came with the birth of Storm FM, which emerged from the evolution of Eastbourne Community Radio. Fifteen years ago, Storm FM was born, and since then, it has grown into a thriving radio station with 21 presenters covering a wide range of genres, from folk to rock and roll, techno, dance shows, morning shows, and lunchtime delights.
Craig Winters now sits at the helm of the 7 to 9 breakfast show on Storm FM, engaging listeners with his infectious enthusiasm and curated playlist. The station's success is a testament to the dedication and passion of Craig and his fellow presenters who have shaped Storm FM into a fully automated and thriving radio station.
