Not too long ago, one of our colleagues saw a Facebook Ad, clicked through to the landing page, took out their credit card and paid a company just over £10.
What were they buying?
A stick.
Yep. Wooden thing, comes off a tree, probably hundreds of them in the back garden they could have just picked up for free...
But he bought one online.
Why?
Because it was marketed to him sooo well!
It comes from a company specialising in dog food called Rocketo.
And in their ad and on their page they make it very clear that this isn't just ‘any old stick’ - it's a dog treat.
It's a toy.
As they say, it's "100% natural Hornbeam wood which has been gently air dried to create the ultimate chew toy experience for dogs".
Amazing!
Their use of copy, reviews and then crucially, photos of dozens of dogs happily sinking their teeth into this stick, grabbed him with such strength he just had to try it for himself.
And they have sold tens of thousands of these sticks.
Tens of thousands!
Yes it's just a bit of wood... but they used their copy and photos to transform a chunky stick into a genuine must-have for our colleague and his dog.
These guys are making serious money selling sticks and I promise you, no matter what you do, it's waaay more interesting, useful and compelling than a chunk of wood.
So get the creative juices out, put pen to paper, grab your camera and make sure YOUR sales pages are as compelling and effective as Rocketo.
