The Eastbourne Eco Action Network Community Interest Company supports a growing network of businesses, community groups, charities and social organisations locally who have committed to helping Eastbourne Borough Council to deliver a carbon neutral town by 2030, a target mandated unanimously by the full council on July 10th 2019 when it made a Climate Emergency Declaration on that date.
The Board of Directors, made up entirely of local volunteers donating their time and skills freely, endeavours to facilitate the deep cross-community collaboration needed to ensure that significant reductions in local carbon emissions are achieved as quickly as possible so that the town contributes its fair share towards achieving the target set by the 2015 Paris Agreement of the United Nations Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change to limit the increase in global warming to less than two degrees centigrade above the pre-industrial global temperature.
The network partnered with Eastbourne Borough Council to officially launch the Eastbourne Carbon Neutral 2030 campaign at the Welcome Building on 18th January 2020.
