With aims to foster a link between hospital and community, the Charity encourages voluntary work within the hospital, managing and staffing three hospital shops, as well as the ward trolley service which goes out weekday afternoons and the Sandwich Trolley that provides a morning lunch service to staff around the hospital 365 days a year. Volunteers are vital to the success of our work and it is thanks to their loyalty and dedication that we have achieved so much since we formed in 1948.
We hold regular events including an Open Gardens programme in the summer, coffee mornings, a Tennis Tournament, a Cream Tea and Summer Fair, an Art Exhibition and lots more - all helping to boost the income generated for the hospital.
Recycling also brings in funds and we collect used stamps, postcards, ink cartridges and bottle tops. Donations can be brought into the Friends Shop in the main foyer of the Eastbourne DGH. Please see our website for a full list of what we collect at: www.friendsdgh.org.uk/how-can-i-help/we-collect
There are now even more ways you can support the charity: from organising your own event, to entering the Eastbourne Lottery and choosing the Friends of Eastbourne Hospital to be your benefiting charity to shopping online at Amazon Smile. This is Amazon’s way of giving back; they will donate 0.5% of the net purchase price from your eligible Amazon Smile purchases to your chosen charity. On your first visit to the website www.smile.amazon.co.uk you will be prompted to select a charitable organisation.
Please select the Friends of the Eastbourne Hospital or use the charity number which is: 220592 to support us. This way your regular shopping can support the charity without it costing you a penny!
