Formed in 1892, the society remembers the Protestant martyrs burned at the stake in 1556. The annual carnival, held on the third Saturday of September, features an impressive mile-long torchlit procession with 5,000 burning torches. The carnival is a deeply moving spectacle, concluding with a grand bonfire and a vibrant fireworks display. Throughout the year, the "Boyes and Belles," as the society’s members are affectionately known, work to organise this event and raise funds for local charities.
