Was passing through Eastbourne and saw the crown so decided to stop for a drink, glad I did, really welcoming atmosphere, bar staff were lucky and really helpful, we didn't stay to long as had somewhere to be but if we didn't I can't imagine I would of left for a fair few hours, really enjoyed my time here, highly recommend

This pub seems to draw you in as it very attractive from the outside so my wife and I went in and what a very pleasing atmosphere ,it was full and we were very luck to find a table. We studied the menu and as we had not had a Christmas roast dinner we chose the Nut Roast and picked a bottle of Red wine.
The red, a Merlot I believe, was excellent, full bodied with a lovely after taste, this is where the good news ends. Our meal finally came and did not look too appetizing but as we had not eaten since breakfast and it was now around 7pm, so we gave it a go. The nut roast was extremely dry the sprouts were overcooked and the roast spuds were naff and so was the rest of veg.
I know,, I know, I should have complained there and then but hunger got he better of me/us and I am sure that we have all be there when YOU JUST WANT SOMETHING TO EAT, and at certain times anything will do, and this was just one of those occasions.
When one of the bar staff came to collect the plates we let him know that the food was not of a good standard but hunger dictated why we ate it, all we got was a lukewarm apology.
So were the kitchen staff having a laugh and maintaining the renowned vendetta against many vegetarians by providing a plate of poor quality food ?. Have they never heard of Quorn ?
This was our first and last visit to this pub.

We enjoyed our meal. 3 of us. The staff here could not be nicer or more helpful The pub has a decent selection of draft beers and a good draft cider. In a great position just off the sea front.
Nearly gave them a four because of the huge portions and the lovely staff but the food though tasty is just solid good tucker. The mushroom and brie starter was huge with a million mushrooms swimming in a brie and garlic butter gravy. tasty if a bit unpretty. The fish and chips were again large with nice battered fish very fresh but not brilliant chips and again a bit piled up on the plate. Ham, eggs and bubble and squeek again tasty but a bit rustic. The chicken liver pate starter was delicious.Yes we would recommend it all for a hearty meal but previous reviewers were maybe a bit over enthusiastic understandably with their reviews because of the super lovely service.

Visited pub for dinner around 17.30. I had roast pork belly and my partner had lasagne. Both came out hot and freshly cooked. Both very tasty! Only downside is that the roast pork was one of the more expensive dishes and I don't think it was the best value for money. It was tasty but it wasn't a big portion, compared to the lasagne and other meals people had. The pub is quaint and has a nice atmosphere however I don't think I'd want to go any later as when we were leaving it was getting very busy. There is not a lot of seating and it is not the biggest of places meaning that it got crowded and loud quite quickly.

We frequent this pub quite often on a Saturday evening for a meal and once again last night the service and meal was excellent. I had one of the best sirloin steaks I have had out for a very long time. Four of us ate and all meals were excellent and hot, beer was good as well, and we have always found the staff to be very friendly and helpful. Occasionally it can be a bit noisy as on most Saturday evenings there is a live band playing (but they dont usually start till 9). Another very good evening

A wet winter evening in town and we headed to this pub with friends. A warm and comfortable lounge area with a warm and friendly welcome from the staff. A jolly evening due to the musicians.

It's situated on the seafront towards the pier. It is a busy pub serving good food, busy for locals and tourists alike. They also show football at the back of the pub but it doesn't interfere with the atmosphere.

We found this pub by chance, on a visit to Eastbourne going back to our hotel, 4 adults and one very young grandaughter, my pint of IPA was excellent and the food was very tasty, the grandaughter soon polished hers off, the staff are very friendly and helpfu and there was a nice atmosphere in the pub, we will definitely return next time we visit Eastbourne
