Played on one of the hottest days of the year, didn't realise how hilly it was but what a gem. From the moment we arrived both members and staff alike were polite, pleasant and extremely welcoming.
The pro was very helpful, (left our batteries at home) The course was in great condition, a tough track, not for the faint heart'd, but would definitely play again.
Lovely atmosphere in the clubhouse, bar staff and young lady clearing were all very pleasant and helpful. We ordered a sandwich and fries, it was like a meal, very good & plentiful, good value for money.
If you're ever in this area this is a must play course.
Thank you to every one at Willingdon GC.

Hilly, and very attractive. A beautifully maintained course suitable for both the high and low handicapper. Lovely chalk turf underfoot, and large immaculate greens. A couple of par 3's well over 200 yards off the yellows. Very reasonable green fees (with County Card). Friendly and welcoming staff. We love it

A superb course in great condition that uses the natural terrain really well. I don’t know at what point in his career Dr. Mackenzie designed Willingdon, but he did a great job either way. I was fortunate to play on a weekday evening so I was able to appreciate the layout more as I played. I loved the quirkiness of the holes where you crossed other groups and the instructions were clear. I personally found the greens a bit slow, but I’m not sure if they were due a cut. Either way they were in really good condition, as were the bunkers and tee-boxes, etc. Willingdon is a very open course, each hole is laid out before you and as such it would suit both experienced players and beginners. The scenery is stunning and on more than one hole there are sea views. Definitely a play again course, favourite holes for me include the 1st, 4th, 13th & 14th.

The rooms were clean, although the windows did rattle a bit in the wind, but a bit of loo paper stopped this.the bed was nice and comfortable, and for the price, I'd say good value.
Breakfast was just OK, but again, for the price, I don't think I could complain. Just a one night stay parked on the sea front had a nice view from my bedroom. If I needed a cheap nights accommodation, I would use it again.

We arrived in the burlington on Monday 2nd Jan and was staying to Fri 6th Jan 2023, on arrival we went to the desk to check in and was met with a foreign speaking fella who asked my name and handed me a key for room no 118, all he said was 1st floor, turn right out of lift. I stood a second and said what about breakfast can we pay for breakfast or what way does it work he looked to a well dressed man at reception who answered us then he continued to have a semi heated conversation with the well Dressed Man who was seemed to be the hotel manager while we were baffled as I've never entered a hotel ever and not told all information ie breakfast, wi fi etc it was like he couldn't wait to get rid of us to have this heated discussion as he seemed quite stressed.
We made our way into the old lift, floor one and proceeded to try find room 118 and it was at the very end of the corridor.
On initial look on opening the door it seemed really basic and clean, 5 mins into looking about the room... It was disgusting! Bathroom was full of damp, the window in the bathroom was covered in black spots of damp, roller blind covering the bathroom window, by the way was a normal plain window pane which was overlooking the main road and paths so everyone outside could see you, no frosted glass as bathrooms normally have and the blind didn't even roll up it was broke. The bath was full of black damp, the toilet hadn't seen bleach in months either and there was no radiator or Towel dryin radiator in the bathroom and it was so cold.
The main window in the room which faced Harry Ramsdens restaurant was covered in mould aswell and one blackout curtain was ripped so bad one side wasn't blacked out at all, the cobwebs hanging from the walls was disgusting.... this room hadn't been looked at or cleaned in months!
My partner started coughing all Night so in the morning I went downstairs and asked was it possible for a change of room, the foreign speaking fella was again on the desk with the manager behind him on a computer, the fella said instantly we are pretty fully booked ( which was a lie as before I headed the desk I tried to booked 10 rooms with no problem at all!!) and asked why we wanted to change.... My reply was the room is disgusting, minging! The manager on the computer instantly said ' give them room 218' so we went straight away to look at the room and omg what a breath of fresh air this room was, a complete different room clean with a coffee pod maker and a bigger TV, and a beautiful view of the pier and the sea! And no mould!
We stayed in the new room from Tues to Fri and not once did a cleaner come in or replenish out towels or our teas coffees sugar and milks! No fresh towels even left at the door and to be honest the cleaners weren't about everyday but seemed to be a few about the Friday when we were leaving.( weekends prob busier)
I visited the reception desk a time during our stay to ask for a lend of a hairdryer and was met with the foreign speaking fella again who was on his own, he dealt with me fine but seemed so agitated and stressed, there was a Chinese man tryin to check in just before me and the receptionist was so blunt and angry with him as the Chinese man couldn't speak English he gave him a key told him floor 1 and that was it.... When I was on my way bk to my room I met the Chinese man who was so confused and scared looking trying to find his room I helped him to his room. In my experience of hotels I'm afraid this one receptionist is nowhere near a people person at all, the job just isn't for him.
The room we were changed to was a superior double and it was lovely, the manager was really helpful and accommodating towards us and yes if we were to visit again I'd defo book room 218 again.
The burlington is in a great prime location, great sea views and yes it's an old hotel but the whole hotel needs a wee bitta work done
