We came to the Afton for our friend Lynns 60th Birthday! we stayed one night in a very pleasant and well situated room, that looked right across to the pier. The party venue was just the right size, and bar staff were very pleasant. The breakfast was very nice and consisted of everything you needed after a good night out. For the price this hotel is in a great position, which does cause a problem for parking? but you cant have everything.

Even though a night at afton was for 90 quid, it was one of the cheapest hotels with good reviews I found near the beach.

The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. Gave us free water since I didn't have change and we're very flexible with check in and check out timing. Really appreciated that.

However we felt that the room was slightly small for the price we paid but overall it is peak season time and hotel is right next to the beach.

Would recommend afton to other travellers.

We recently used the Afton Hotel for an event. Fiona, Jason and the team made everyone feel completely welcome. The rooms were all comfortable, with some offering stunning views of the pier and seafront. The food kept us all going, with varying dietary needs catered for.
We will definitely be using the Afton Hotel again for our events.

All I can say about this hotel is that for myself and my wife it was decidedly average. A room on the 1st floor with a balcony and things would have been much better.
As it was we were on the 3rd floor, which the owner or manager has already stated on Trip Advisor, are smallish rooms with showers with low pressure.
The en suite is very small up there and unless you are a contortionist it might be better to tear off the toilet paper you will need before taking aim.
The room itself was clean though rather sad looking, as was the hotel interior.
Obviously it is an old hotel and it would cost a great deal of money to bring it up to scratch, but you get what you pay for.
The food was adequate and all the waiting staff seemed to be run off their feet and consequently did quite a good job.
The location itself is excellent with the only drawback the noise from the youth coming from the pier which is not the hotels fault.
Be warned also that the seagulls are very loud and very early risers.
If a light sleeper take some ear plugs.
Again not the hotels fault, but a friendly tip.
My overall view as the title says was adequate.

Walls are paper thin, might as well not have any plus the windows aren't double glazed and you can hear everything out on the main roads. I wouldn't stay here again but only for this reason as I like a bit of peace and quiet and literally hearing people's full conversations and walking in the room next door isn't really appreciated.

Had a few issues before arrival with no responses to email. We asked for a double with room for a travel cot....but got a twin beds pushed together. We were on the second floor with a great view of the pier. The room was extremely hot due to the fantastic weather. Hotel and room decore is outdated but didn't affect our stay. All in all we had a lovely time and staff were friendly and helpful. Hope to visit next year.

We just spent one night here but had a lovely experience. We booked two rooms for the five of us (3 adults and 2 children): one with two twins beds and one for three people that included a bunk bed for the children (and I think this was the highlight of their trip).

We found the accommodations to be clean and comfortable and the staff was very friendly. They have quite a large first floor reception area with a bar, an area that seems to be set up for live entertainment or karaoke, and several sitting rooms.

But for me, the best feature was the location which was almost right across from the Eastbourne pier and close to many restaurants. We also happened to be there when there was a concert down near the beach and had a lovely time waking down by the water.
