Hotel is dated lifts are small, having said that it's ideally situated to the seafront carpet gardens and town centre. most staff polite food quality great. One minor gripe if you go to evening dinner late they tend to run out of some dishes.

We had a very pleasant and large corner room on third floor with a nice view of both the promenade and the sea also with instant access to free Wi-Fi.
We did hear a number of people complaining about their rooms but all those we saw seemed to be OK.
Food could have been served a lot hotter but the waitress was both pleasant and efficient as was the head waiter who was her father and is surely destined for better things.
Food wise the vegetable choice of one size fits all all means an intriguing meal combination at times.
There is not sufficient seating space in the evening for the number of people in the hotel.
Whilst this is not a first class hotel the wine prices are. The cheapest we could get was an £18 wine reduced to £14.

We stay at the Burlington on a regular basis, have done for 13 years, we have tried a dozen other hotels in Eastbourne, when The Burlington has been fully booked, however, in our opinion, we can't match their value or excellent service. Yes it's tired, but it depends what your priorities are.
We know that the food choice and quality are excellent, the service of ALL the staff is second to none. The sheets and towels are beautifully laundered. We are treated with courtesy and respect, and while they can't guarantee our special requests, we know that they have tried their hardest.
The location is perfect, practically in the shopping centre, and overlooking the exquisite carpet of flowers and only a stones throw from the pier, bliss. Therefore, I believe, if you think you need perfect paintwork, or immaculate lifts, I think you may have to pay more for it. My only negative is the poor entertainment, but again, if I want super entertainment, I would expect to pay for it. We can't wait for our next break there, It's like coming home. Thank you Burlington.

Once again my husband and I took my two older sisters for a repeat 4 day break at your hotel.
We were very surprised at the refurbishments that have been made since last year.
My sisters had a beautifully large twin room number 410, it was superb and must have just been decorated, however we were a bit dissapointed with our double, it was the smallest we have had so far, room 412 and should have been a single and it would have been nice to have been put in the larger one right next to my sisters.
Just a tip for both rooms the tv was so low you could not watch in bed, which would have been a nice touch.

I know its mid summer but the heating was off and I was quite cold in the room sometimes.

The food was very good as usual, however on the last day, my sister ordered scrambled egg with beans which was swimming in water when it arrived so was inedible, Gosha a lovely waitress and worthy of a mention was very appologetic and said she would tell chef.
I was very pleased that as a non meat eater, the chef grilled me a lovely piece of plaice at the request of reception, so if there is nothing you like on the menu just mention it to reception and they will do what they can to find you something else.

As I have said Gosha was a delight and made our mealtime a treat, she always had a smile and made everyone she served feel special.

Last of all I have to mention Mark the entertainer, he does a wonderful job in very difficult circumstances, he manages to make everyone laugh and acts as though he really enjoys himself every evening, and we all know how hard that can be at times.
His jokes were not offensive at any time and this man should be treasured, good entertainers like him are hard to find.

We found one of the cabaret acts, a gentleman comedian a bit riske, we know no offence was meant but looking around at some of the guests we could see a lot of embarrased faces not to mention my husbands.

All in all this was a very nice few days break, however please consider that some rooms are just too small for two people and not all elderly people like risque comedy, which I have to add that this act was an actual repeat of his cabaret last year.(some people sometimes go to the same hotel 2 years running)

My Wife and I have just returned from a weekend at the Burlington for my 65th birthday treat.
Everything was as we would have expected from a 3 star hotel, and the food was good with a good choice of menu,
The Entertainer Mark was very good with his quizes and music,I actually won on the bingo, that was a first for me.
Room 238
The bedroom was very clean and comfortable and large enough for the two of us
My only complaint was the bathroom, it has been converted to a shower with the smallest sink I
have seen, fitted into a tiny space against a wall with a glass shelf above,The sink would only take about 2inches of water before overflowing, and a tap fitting that would have been more suitable in a mansion,
The floor sloped so badly that when you sat on the loo you did so at an angle, I started playing
roll a coin to see where it fineshed up,it dissapeared at a fast rate into the corner of the shower base.
Apart from that we had a lovely weekend in Eastbourne and have booked again for December for Tinsel and Turkey.

We have just had 7 days at this hotel. On arrival we were greeted by very good staff and put our car in the car park. The bedroom was on the 4th floor no problem as there were two lifts. It was a large room with comfortable beds and very clean. The bathroom very dated and a shower over a high bath not much water pressure and luke warm water. This was rectified by the third day.The dinning room is very large and luckily we were in a small room off with a table for two, again the staff and service was excellent , the food was good but spoiled by the chefs, the breakfast was under cooked bacon and rubbery eggs and scrambled eggs that looked to have no yokes. It is a problem cooking for so many I appreciated that but to waste so much money on badly cooked meals is silly. The lounges large and clean and comfortable. The entertainment if you like Bingo and quizess then this is the hotel to choose. Three nights we had a singer from outside, not too bad but limited time. Dancing to a CD started approx 10.30pm too late.Again I must praise all the staff as nothing was too much trouble for them, a little hiccough with house keeping staff that I hope will be put right when they read the comments paper. Will we go with Shearings again ? I dont think so.

My sister and I took our 83 year old mother to the Burlington in Eastbourne and had a very enjoyable holiday. Our sea view room was great and the location of the hotel was superb. The staff were lovely especially our waitress Eva, she was so pleasant and courteous, nothing was too much trouble and she was always smiling. Moses who was the dining room manager was a very good example to his staff he did his share of work and didn't leave it to the waiters/waitresses. The food was delicious and always hot and served promptly. The reception and bar staff were also very professional and pleasant. we would go there again and would recommend it

my wife and i have had many stays at shearings hotels throughout the country, we have noticed cuts every year, this time after two days fruit juice was removed from the starter menu, i asked why and was told it was a company decision, because i complained i was allowed to continue having it for the remainder of the holiday. shearings holidays are not the value for money they once were they are more concerned in grabbing as much money out of customers as possible.

Stayed at the Hotel in May on a Shearings Coach Holiday I am not including details about my damaged case for which I received no help either from reception or the driver. This has been dealt with by my direct complaint to Customer Care Shearings.

The room 142 was very tired more like a hostel room, no bedspread just a white quilt cover over a pad of some sort. the pillows were the same and as flat. I asked the chambermaid for some thicker pillows but they never arrived.

I took extra clothes hangers and I needed them, as there were not many drawers at all in the room.
Reception just said "most of the rooms have few drawers" and that was that.
I think it depends if you are lucky enough to get a decent room on your opinion of this Hotel.

The bathroom was awful the shower spout just sprayed water everywhere, it was unreachable to alter, and on one evening I had a knock on my door to ask if I had used the shower as the bar had a leak.I was told the bath would be sealed the day after.

The television didn't work I think they were waiting for the digital switch over in June or July
so never bothered replacing it.The only view I had was of the carpark I was very disapointed
with the room and as for telling reception it should be the managers duty to check all rooms are up to scratch and fit for purpose I was glad to get home.

I have stayed in other Shearings Hotels, but this one roomwise was not good.It was my first Shearings Coach Holiday having been with other coach tour companies.

The food was average but enjoyable, restaurant and bar staff excellent, entertainment
adequate but Mark as wonderful as he is needs another day off for variety.
