We have just returned from one night at the Burlington hotel. Having booked a double room with DBB for a very reasonable price, we were upgraded to a room with Seaview. All the staff were very pleasant and helpful going out of their way to ensure you were happy. The chef should be congratulated as should the waiting staff on the excellent food served for the price we paid, we thoroughly enjoyed our evening meal and breakfast.
Yes the hotel could do with a bit of new paint in places but it was cleaned to a high covid standard and there was plenty of sanitizer placed around the hotel. Dont look for the extras removed for your safety in your room enjoy the simplicity and cleanliness to make you feel 100% safe! Only downside was maybe parking as it was a £6 charge in hotel carpark but we could leave car there after checking out so even that was good value really.
Well done to all staff throughout the hotel continue working together through these challenging and quieter times and Covid rules allowing we shall look forward to returning again.

We stayed 2 nights on the Groupon DBB deal. The staff are friendly and helpful and the room was ok for the price we paid. What lets the hotel down is the quality of the food, especially for dinner on the set menu. I would best describe as cold school dinners, but that is a little unkind to school dinners! I know they have to serve food on a budget but the veg could at least be hot. Got the impression that a large number of meals and sides were made up and sat in the kitchen waiting, you certainly got served very quickly. On our second night the soup starter was fine but the mains so bad we left them and went out to eat. Nobody questioned why the food was left, just took the plates away. Please improve kitchen service and spend a little more on the food, even if you have to put prices up a couple of pounds, it lets the hotel down badly.

What a shame this hotel had to close a day after we checked in, lucky we could get a room at the premier inn, but not the same.

Everybody did their very best, staff all very happy and helpful, check in lady was so nice.

They upgraded us to a seaview room, perfect the young lady in the bar was nice, service was nice, evening dinner was fantastic, wine was great.

Breakfast was plentiful and hot.

Room 421 was clean and tidy, shame only a standard bed, will upgrade to room 410 next time, which was told has king size.

We had to cut our stay short due to Covid lockdown but we have 2 nights in credit to rebook near Christmas hopefully.

This hotel is old, but it must have been fun in its day, i hope its day returns again, as will we.

Hotel has its own car park at the rear.

Dont pull this hotel apart , its old, it creaks, it has character....... its part of Eastbourne's history.

First time staying here after staying at many other hotels in Eastbourne, stayed in 1st floor seafacing room with great view over the pier.

Positives:
Great views
Large room
Good shower
Good covid measures on place

Negatives:
Slow check in
No bath towels (just 2 x hand towels)
Coffee machine .. couldn't get to work and no instructions to operate it.
£6 per day charge to park in hotel car park.

* Asked reception for bath towels and someone to show haw the coffee machine worked, was told towels would be dropped to the room and someone would look at coffee machine ..
Neither were attended to during our stay.

All in all a pleasant stay however and well situated for beach and town, and would stay again, shame they never followed up on promises

7/10

Very well situated, on the seafront very close to the pier. Very friendly but breakfast a bit chaotic, probably due just having reopened. We would happily fist again. Room was very nice exterior needs attention though.

Hotel has perfect location, reasonable prices, nice friendly staff in a bar and restaurant (especially lovely lady Tracy).
Definitely needs renovation: old dirty windows, carpets, leaking gutters, no air conditioners, dated.

Just stayed at this hotel and had a lovely break, we was in a seaview deluxe room, well worth the extra you had to pay for this, as very spacious room, lovely views and great walk in shower!! We had breakfast and evening meal and was very very good, breakfast a little chaotic as very limited staff so had to wait quite a while for breakfast, staff very very pleasant, the only thing letting the hotel down was the common parts decor!!! Very very old and shabby, and everywhere looked in need of a good hoover, lift should be completely overhauled as in a terrible state!!! But all in all a lovely stay!!

The best thing about this hotel was it`s position ,near to everything, and the bedroom overlooking the sea. The staff were hopeless. Bar staff didn`t have a clue on glasses or mixes, and my husband had to advise them. Their was no table service as advertised.
We only had breakfast once out of the 4 days we had paid for as it was cold. Took 40 minutes to arrive, and the toast was only brown on the tips.
The lift was antiquated with filthy carpet on the walls, and flaking paint. At reception where we were told we could not book in till 3pm we waited till 4.30 before we got into our room. Not good enough when most hotels the world over are 2pm. We did have very good entertainment on two nights, but the poor entertainers had no advertising at all. The singer who had sung as a lead singer of a London show had approximately 8 people watching him. It was a crying shame.

Our room was 229 at the back of the hotel with the fire escape outside the window so not a great view. It was clean when we arrived the bed was comfy but because of covid not serviced during our stay.
The bar staff were very good especially Kaitlin she deserves a special mention as she always remembered our favorite drinks.
The restaurant was a very different story! the first night we waited half an hour for someone to take our order, then to be told we had the wrong menu so had to start again, we waited another half hour for our starter to arrive decided there was nothing on the mains that we could eat as the lemon sole that we had chosen was now scallops! Things did improve slightly during the rest of our stay but still not good.
The lounges were not really fit for lounging as there were only 2 small sofas and six armchairs the rest were upright dining type or bar stools so not somewhere you could feel relaxed.
The hotel is in a great location and we spent most of our time on the beach, there is a very nice beach bar and cafe just down the steps right opposite the hotel. Overall we did enjoy our stay as it was just good to get away from home for a bit and we were lucky with the weather.
