It was very crowded in the pub when we arrived with our family, so we decided to be seated at some small tables outside. But as soon as there was a table cleared inside the staff told us. There was live music planned for that night, but even when the place was full, the staff stayed super friendly and caring. The food was just awesome, we had the Rodeo Burger which still make my mouth water when I remember it. Great place, parking might be challenge, but definitely worth to visit.

Pleasant Greene King pub on the seafront. Nice atmosphere and the food looked good but we 'met' the nutter in the rear patio so didn't stay. He's probably not a fixture so don't be put off.

My wife and I WENT to Eastbourne to see her aunt's retrospective
exhibition at the Towner gallery and stayed two nights on the 8th and9th of Sept at the Shore View. We WENT into the Crown and Anchor both
nights for a few drinks and supper and really enjoyed both visits, being greatly impressed with the very friendly and efficient service,
good beer and good food.Heaven knows when we'll ever get back to Eastbourne but we will
certainly recommend the Crown and Anchor to any friends who might be visiting the town

The lamb shank was SO tender and the Ale gravy delicious. Coupled with a great selection of veg and crispy roast potatoes. One of the best Sunday roasts I've ever had. I am stuffed ! Thankyou.

We were staying across the road from the Crown and Anchor so called in each day. We had a shared platter with drinks on the first day and returned for dinner the next night. The staff were very friendly and the food was superb, much better than the usual pub fare. It was too cold to sit outside but many people did so.

Poped in for lunch thinking we would get typical pub grub. Well how wrong could we have been. food was home made, amazing. just was blown away at the friendly service as well as the amazing food. Just could not praise them enough. Certainly will be back when in that part of the country. Thank you so much to all the staff.

A nice pub, right on the seafront, with friendly staff. You can sit outside and watch the world go by. Food is very good standard.

Spent a weekend in nearby B&B (The New England b&b - see separate review) and had lunch in this pub. The food was probably the best pub food I have had in a long time (should be classed as restaurant food), and very reasonably priced. All the staff were polite and although in the evening it was packed as it coincided with the annual torchlight procession and firework display my husband was served without having to wait. Also had a live group in the evening. Very good atmosphere with plenty of cask ales. We enjoyed the food so much that we went back for lunch the next day. Would not hesitate to recommend.

We were looking for somewhere to have a meal, and turned off the seafront to find this little gem tucked away. It looks a little like an old 'spit-and-sawdust' pub, but don't let the otside put you off. There was a very good, simple enu, and the food was very tasty indeed. My wife's half chicken with salad defeated her, as there was just so much meat! I had the homemade lasagne, with garlic bread, and it was very good indeed, and really did taste home made.
There are quite a few guest cask beers available. The hosts were totally polite and courteous, and were friendly with locals and tourists (like us) alike. All in all this was a wonderful meal in a surprising place.
