Just returned from the Burlington Hotel for the third time, Went especially for the air show,
It has lots of niggling faults but value for money you cannot complain, it doesn't possess to be a 4 or 5* hotel. You get what you pay for.
We stay at this hotel because it has a prime location, it sits in front of the famous flower gardens, and in between the Pier and the Bandstand,
I do not think it necessary to request any particular room unless you have thoughts on spending a lot of time in it, The rooms at the front of the hotel offer fantastic views of the coastline, however during the summer months lots of youngsters congregate on the beach front till the small hours of the morning, so can be a bit noisy when you are trying to sleep, If you can look passed the car park, the rooms at the back do give some stunning views of the surrounding hills and country side.
We had a room at the back, quite large and adequate for us, although the décor leaves a little to be desired, I don't understand why you would paint rooms in a drab grey colour, the same drab colour has also been used to paint the skirting boards and radiator???, we were on the top floor, it had obviously had a leak at some point, the repair must have been done by Bodge it and Leg it, the walls and coving had been repainted but still showed signs of bubbling and crumbling paintwork, during our week there it rained heavily and another damp patch appeared on the wall,,
The restaurant is large, nicely decorated and pleasant, the food is nice, three choices of starters, mains and deserts, Breakfast was good too, Waitresses however are a little harassed, I think its because the timings of meals ie 1.15 mins for each, leave little time for the staff to served everyone properly, we often did not receive a glass of water, or waited ages for a spoon to eat our dessert, minor irritations.
The entertainment was not our cup of tea, but have to say most of the older guests were enjoying themselves every night, so well done to Mark and his cabaret acts. If you intend to stay in the hotel take a fan as it gets very hot during the evening, also if you intend to watch the cabaret acts of wish to have a dance there are limited seats near the dance floor so try and get in there early.
The hotel is a good place for a base, it is friendly and has good amenities, its not luxury but very good value for money, there are lots of activities, history and site seeing around, well worth a visit
we will return. thank you

We stayed here on our first visit to Eastboune and love the town now, the hotel is a bit dated and I hated the tiny lifts so walked up to our room rather than go in lift.
We found it to be a bit old and dated but the food was nice and the entertainment we did see was ok, a comedian/impressionist one night, the music was too old for us but then we did choose a shearings holiday to avoid the driving and it was a good package in all.
The wifi only worked when we sat downstairs which was a bit annoying.
Wish we had upgraded our room to get a better tv and maybe a sea view

Position- on the seafront opposite the pier and gardens. nice flat surface for the elderly and the disabled, - short walk to the town centre- 3 mile prom nice walk

Room - we had room 343 was at the rear a standard plus- large twin bedded room .
cleaned each day, fresh towels- but very warm - no fan or air conditioning made it very warm at night.- clean bathroom-

Food. was excellent - ( you always have the moaners) full served breakfast- choice of
starter, main and sweet at evening - the chefs specials were VERY GOOD - I tried them all -
lifts - only 1 working and made it difficult at times to use and so many disabled and elderly were slow getting in and out of the lifts, need the other to be working quickly
evening and breakfast times especially were busy -
reception and bar staff good - chatty and quick.
Waitress - ours was DIONE - very good and pleasant - nice smile made the morning
seeing such a cheerful face -
Entertainment- each night - but overall - average to poor- Bingo and artist
Resort- plenty of walking and very pleasant- but too quiet for us- nothing going on
during the week at nights- a handful of pubs -
overall the hotel was quite adequate- seemed to be catering for the "older visitor"
wouldn't recommend for family or younger people.
Long journey from Lancashire- no entertainment on the coach- either way -
2 stops - tip- take your own food and drinks as motorway services are busy and expensive.- no info in the room from the driver as to check out times and which coach to get on - ours was changed from the trip- down- we had to go and ask at reception
as a holiday we would rate this as a 6/10

A nice large room on the top floor at the back. Overall cleanliness of the room was good and the facilities adequate. Restaurant service (excellent) and the food was good.

Location was excellent (opposite the pier) and just a short walk from buses, train station and shops.

The only down side was people smoking on the steps outside the front door.

We would definitely stop again.

Stayed here Friday till Monday last weekend and really enjoyed the stay in this bay hotel.
Check in was simple and we got the lift to fourth floor and found our room 442
Decent sized room overlooking car park at rear, but didn't mind that as didn't plan spending too much time in our room.
Room was spacious with comfy double bed and plenty of cupboards, drawers etc. tea making facilities and flat screen TV as standard nowadays. And bathroom with bath c/w shower was adequate with plenty of hot water.
Bar on the ground floor was decent with bottle of cider at £4.10 and served with a smile. Plenty of seating including pleasant sun lounge looking out on to the prom.
Food was ok, decent buffet breakfast plus full English to order was good start, although the dinner was less in quality. Small menu with couple of starters, couple of mains and also couple of desserts, but not great choice - especially if you have kids.
Hotel staff were great, everyone smiled and gave bit of banter regardless of who you were.
Hotel is run primarily for coach tours so expect an elderly population, and with this in mind the hotel temperature is on the warm side.
The hotels location couldn't be better as is right on the prom and overlooks the pier.
Would I return? Yes definitely as was a lovely stay.

My husband and I stayed in this hotel from Friday 21st to 24th of August. We were in room 103 spacious and nicely decorated, very comfortable bed, had just been refurbished. Food was excellent, plenty of hot water, good supply of tea sugar ect. nice flat screen television, hairdryer and kettle. Was very hot in the room due to high outside temperature but we were able to open the window, and reception kindly provided us with a fan. All the staff were very helpful, very friendly and one young lady who served us in the dining room Diona made our stay so much more pleasant with her lovely smile and excitement because she was being trained. She was blooming, reminded me of when I was a waitress in blackpool so so many years ago, the same enthusiasm. I wished her a happy life! The room was looked after well clean towels every day and again cheerful staff. We were very fortunate with the weather, beautiful, nice trip to Brighton, coach driver superb. All in all a very nice break!

We booked a three night stay to take my elderly mum away. We chose the Burlington because it is a Bay hotel and we knew that there would be entertainment which my mum loves. We were not disappointed. The food was very good for the price paid and there was always a good choice. My mum's room had been updated and was good. Our bathroom was very dated and certainly needed some TLC. The lift is a real problem. It is small and seemed to break down quite often. As a hotel that caters for the more elderly members of the population it would really be a good idea to let the guests use both lifts at meal times and particularly when getting ready to depart as so many people seemed to have suitcases and wanted to get in the lifts at the same time. All staff were extremely polite and helpful.

Have just a fabulous 7 day break which was so enjoyable that I forgot about the horrible weather. The whole experience gets more enjoyable with each visit. The food gets even better and the service from all staff at this hotel is fantastic. The location is ideal and the surrounding areas are magnificent in all weathers.

My husband and I along with my sister and brother in law spent bank holiday weekend in the Bay Burlington as a last minute break. Right on the seafront, opposite the pier, the location was perfect, we walked all the way along the coast to Beachy Head, had lunch and came back. The rooms were fine, clean, plenty of hot water and fluffy towels with well stocked tea and coffee making facilities. The food was extremely good, hot tasty and fresh and our young waitress a total delight, nothing was too much trouble for her and her smile never left her face. We had been advised that there was entertainment in the hotel and that it was aimed at the older guest, we are all in our 40's and found Marc hilarious and infectious, we laughed along with him all weekend. It had a feel of a hotel from a bygone age (oh dear, it's lucky we didn't need to use the lifts) and gave us a warm fuzzy feeling, will definitely be back

A very nice Hotel. This was our 2nd visit to the Hotel. Food is a very high standard. Very friendly and helpful staff. We were there the Week of the Eastbourne Air Show, it was very warm and 'Muggy' and the Hotel was very warm. We were supplied with a free Fan for our Room. There are Ceiling Fans in the Restaurant. Smokers have to go outside and they congregate just outside the Main Entrance Doorway on the Steps and the downside of this is the smoke can drift in to the Bar/Lounge area, just inside! I have to use a 'Mobility Scooter' and there is a room on Ground Floor next to Lifts where Scooters are able to be charged! Wheelchairs are allowed in the Lift. We had a room just next to lift for this reason. There is regular Evening Entertainment should you wish to see it. The Rooms are big and spacious, the rooms on the front have Sea View. The Hotel is right on the 'Front', a minute or so from the Pier.
