We were blessed with a clear, crisp winter day, but this place would be breathtaking in any weather. The beach (accessed from a stair tower) is a geographer's dream with lots of textbook features, including the startlingly white chalk wave cut platform and views of the cliffs. It is also the starting point for a number of circular walks in this stunning unspoilt coastal area.
Excellent National Trust facilities - tea shop, shop, visitor centre, car park (free to NT members displaying sticker)

Even when the wind is blowing and the sea is crashing against the beach below, this is the epitome of the English South Coast, with the cliffs that are gradually falling into the sea. The NT have done a good jop in making Birling Gap an enjoyable place to visit.

Birling Gap is a must visit if you are in the area. The cliffs are absolutely astounding- the view is beautiful. We were blessed with a chilly, clear blue-sky day which made for stunning photos and wonderful memories. So grateful our friends brought us to see them. Unforgettable. The cafe is also great for lunch.

The view is stunning as all of the other reviewers have stated.
Even though we live near the seaside in Kent we were really surprised by the power of the sea here. There was little swell out to sea but the waves were really crashing on the beach. Looking along the coast towards Brighton you could see waves that must have been over 10 foot high hit the cliffs and run along their front for 5 or 6 seconds. Awesome. There is a cafe and visitor centre. Don't delay yor visit for too long. It's estimated that half of the visitor centre will be in the sea by 2053.
