We booked a last minute holiday to the Burlington and found it was to be a ‘Turkey and Tinsel’ Break.

As it was a last minute booking the choice was either a Standard Room or Standard Plus Room without sea view, so we paid extra to have the Plus Room. There was a mirror over the desk/ dressing table and a full length mirror also which is very nice to have both so well situated. The Room was large, clean, recently redecorated and refurnished, and had a modern shower room (no bath). The bed was a standard double size and the room was huge, it would have been a good idea to put a large double bed in this room as it was a Plus Room at an extra charge otherwise all we paid the extra for was the new decorations.

Unfortunately the floor boards were very squeaky as were the ones in the room above. I would have thought that when the new carpets were laid, the floor boards would have been repaired. There were plenty of plug sockets which are always an advantage. The towels were not replaced daily even when put in the bottom of the shower, I complained to reception and they arranged for fresh towels to be sent to our room immediately.

The food and service in the dining room was very good. Breakfast is self-service with lots of choice and plentiful. Dinner is served from 6.30 we went about 7 to 7.15 when it’s less busy.

There is entertainment every evening and bingo is extremely popular with very high cash prizes.

The Bar Staff are great – there was no ‘drinks package’ in our ‘Turkey and Tinsel’ break and we found the drinks expensive.

There is no Wi-Fi in the bedrooms only in the lounge areas.

We were pleased to see that the hotel had vastly improved since our last visit in 2009, but there are still some areas in need of attention. The corridors are shabby and badly in need of refurbishment as are the lifts. There were four coach parties and self-drive customers in this hotel during our five day stay and if that happens every week, the hotel must take some keeping up to.

The hotel is well situated right on the sea front overlooking the pier and carpet gardens. If you want to take a day trip to Brighton the 12X bus stops by the Pier and the 99 bus to Hastings and Bexhill stops on the opposite side of the road by the Queens Hotel. Ask at reception for the bus times and also a street plan for Eastbourne
.
Our thanks to the staff who are very pleasant, efficient and work very hard.

Overall, we enjoyed our pre-Christmas break.

another good weekend has a upgrade room with sea view worth the extra cost. as usual ALL the staff are first class nothing is to much trouble. we noticed the size of portions at dinner time they seem to be getting smaller instead of cutting cost on the food just put a couple of quid on the price for the stay. hotel is in a prime spot for the shops . we took the bus number 12x to Brighton it goes through some very pretty villages and towns . the bus stop is a very short walk from the hotel just by the pier .hope to visit again next year.

The hotel was nicely trimmed for Christmas, but the actual decor was a little tired. There are 2 lifts, one of which is so tiny you can just about get 2 people in, if carrying anything, so unless you fancy walking up, you can wait a while. We opted for a superior room. It was a big room, with a sea view. It had tea/coffee making facilities and spare pillows. Bathroom was nice and spacious too, with an effective shower (in bath). Nowhere to hang wet towels though. We had breakfast and evening meal. Breakfast was very good, buffet style, but you could order from a menu too, dinner was ok, but the portions were tiny. It suited me as I was dieting. The staff were all lovely, friendly and helpful. The evening entertainment was good fun too. I'd recommend a few days here, but make sure you book with shearings, as a couple we met who didn't, seemed not to be treated quite so well (ie couldn't book car parking and didn't have an allocated meal table).

Room 300 good room but only dimplex heater keeps room hot bathroom cool old radiator not working wire on heater not long enough to reach. Bed nice near to lift and stairs. Food was nice sprouts too hard for me but that's personal taste. Staff friendly Chris manager lovely as always. Nothing was too much trouble. Coach trip was good very late getting back to London only due to snow up country. Have booked for next year will be 5th time. Service good location good shops just around corner good value for money. Mark was good as usual although he had been be really poorly and in hospital. Thank you to all staff for making our Christmas great.

Just been on a three day break, and stayed at the burlington hotel eastbourne, what a lovely hotel, the food was very nice, and there was a good choice for the evening meal, and a lovely buffet breakfast, plenty to choose from. We had a sea view room, and it was a good size, view was great, staff very friendly and pleasant, very helpful. I would recommend a visit here cannot fault anything, and will be going back at some point. The town centre is just a short walk away, plenty of shops, and bars, really enjoyed my stay, just wish it was longer

I went with a friend to this lovely Hotel situated on the Seafront, to see the New Year in we had much laughter as I met up with friends that I had not seen for a number of years which is always good, I did encounter a few problems but I am writing to Shearing myself and all the problems except one were rectified, my room was a little snug but it was ok, most of the staff were OK and tried to be helpful, the Food Excellent good choice and hot... Our Driver was very knowledgeable and made the holiday...

Been coming back year after year. Can't resist it! Why? For all the same reasons that everyone else has, who will have given 5 Stars. Home from home. Every year, you find changes for the better. Every member of staff you meet will give you a smile and be most helpful. Okay it's not the Ritz but then one or two people seem to forget they are not having to pay Ritzy prices. Thanks again, and see you again next year, if not before.
