It's Christmas time in Edinburgh and we don't think anywhere does Christmas better than our own city.
You can't have failed to miss the appearance of the European Christmas Market once again, stretching from the Mound, along East Princes Street Gardens Terrace and around the Scott Monument.
And another seasonal favourite, the Big Wheel at East Princes Street Gardens is now open, with its thirty-six enclosed, weather-proof pods, each seating six people and showing unrivalled views of Edinburgh.
The Virgin Money Street of Light is a breathtaking new event set to light up the Old Town this Christmas. Running until Christmas Eve, an architectural installation of over 60,000 lights runs along the Royal Mile, from City Chambers to the Tron Kirk.
Also in Princes Street Gardens is the Christmas Tree Maze at Santa Land, where children and adults alike can try to make their way to the centre and back again. Inside you'll also discover the Elves' workshop, where Santa's little helpers will be waiting for you with a wee treat!
24 Doors of Advent is a great chance to discover some of Edinburgh's fascinating hidden gems. On each day of advent, one of the city's incredible buildings will open their doors for free. Many of these gems aren't usually open to the public, so catch them while you can.
As well as Christmas themed events, there are a handful of new locally-owned stores which have recently opened in Edinburgh...
Grounds of Stockbridge is Edinburgh's newest coffee shop which opened last week and also just opened in Stockbridge is new cheese monger, George Mewes Cheese.
We also have a brand new dog shop in Morningside - Ruff-It is holding its official launch event on Saturday. Customers and canines can pop in to see them at 47 Comiston Road, meet the super-friendly, knowledgeable team and enjoy some festive refreshments and nibbles! We checked it out earlier this week - it's definitey worth a visit if you're looking for a present for your four-legged-friend this Christmas.
Especially at this time of year, there are so many other events happening. For more details of other happenings across the city this coming week, check out our Full Events Guide.
There are also guides to all the city's farmers markets and car boot sales.
And don't forget, if you know of any great upcoming community events, feel free to tell us about them here.
Until next time, have a great week ahead and best of luck with the Christmas shopping!
