Banstead Art Group
We were originally formed in 1947 by a group of enthusiastic painters who met in the ‘Old Canteen’ at one end of Banstead High Street. We now meet once a month in the Mead Room of the Banstead Community Association Hall, and we are run by an annually elected Committee.
The monthly meetings take the form of appraisals of members’ work by a visiting artist. It also provides an opportunity for socialising and information sharing with other members. Activities include demonstrations, talks, workshops, occasional visits to art exhibitions of special interest, attendance at local events, a painting day at a local beauty spot and an annual painting holiday.
Our Annual Exhibition, held in October in the Banstead Community Association Hall, is popular and well attended. The art work is varied and includes watercolour, oil, pastel, mixed media, and visitors are able to vote for their favourite piece in the exhibition.
Although only original art work is accepted, members are encouraged to produce cards for sale throughout the year.
