Round the Borough Hike takes place on Saturday 3 September. For a chance to discover the Borough's beautiful open spaces for free! Register online today at www.epsom-ewell.gov.uk/roundtheboroughhikeandbike or call 01372 732000.

Now in its fifth year, the event offers participants the chance to explore Epsom & Ewell's green spaces via a network of walking routes joining up the beautiful open spaces across Epsom & Ewell; including Epsom & Walton Downs, Epsom Common LNR (Local Nature Reserve), Nonsuch Park, the Hogsmill LNR and Horton Country Park LNR.

The event is free to enter for all ages and abilities. Participants will set off from Horton Country Park LNR at 8.30am; the challenge is to complete the full 20 mile route in one day. It is estimated that the family friendly route takes between eight to ten hours to walk the full route depending on length and frequency of breaks.

Certificates will be awarded to those completing the full 20 miles. Those who completed the Round the Borough Bike earlier in the year and go on to complete the Hike will also get a special keepsake.

Last year 64 participants took part in the Hike and some even raised money for charity. This year's participants are once again invited to raise money for a charity of their choice.

Councillor Tony Axelrod, Vice Chairman of the Community and Wellbeing Committee, said: "Round the Borough Hike is probably the best way to experience Epsom & Ewell's plentiful and stunning open spaces with friends and family. You can complete the hike at your own pace or set yourself a challenge to achieve a milestone.

“With numbers growing year on year, this year's Round the Borough Hike is likely to be the biggest and best yet. Don't miss out on this opportunity to discover something new in your Borough."

Participants must wear suitable footwear as the route covers a variety of terrain and is uneven in places; and be prepared for the weather. Under 16s must be accompanied by an adult. Please note, bikes, dogs and roller blades/skates are not permitted for the Hike.

We are looking for volunteer stewards to help marshal the course and ensure the safety of our participants for the following locations – Epsom Downs (11.30am-3pm), Woodcote Green Road (2.30pm-4.30pm) and at the junction of the A24 and Wells Road (1pm-3pm and 3pm-5pm). If you are able to give up your time and help out please contact the Council's Leisure Development's Team at
