On Saturday 16 February 2019 Mark and his dog Upton from Guide Dogs for the Blind came into the Centre and demonstrated how these wonderful dogs are trained. There was also the chance to see what it is like when someone loses their sight by trying a Blindfold Walk escorted by Fiona, a specialist trainer with Guide Dogs.
Ashley 2, the second Guide Dog sponsored by The Ashley Centre made a special visit. The eight-month old puppy captured the hearts of shoppers and £2,669.82 was raised on the day from donations, tombola and Guide Dog items for sale.
The total raised in The Ashley Centre for Guide Dogs for the Blind has now reached an incredible £20,860.31.
Every hour someone in the UK goes blind. When someone young or old loses their sight, Guide Dogs for the Blind make sure they don’t lose their freedom as well.
