Epsom and Ewell council is urging residents to give their views on the proposed new local council tax support scheme.
Epsom and Ewell Council is consulting on changes to the system until October 28 and has so far received more than 600 responses, but wants more people to contribute.
As part of the Government's welfare reforms, from April 1, 2013, council tax benefit will be replaced by a localised support scheme to help people on low incomes with their council tax.
The Government also plans to reduce funding for council tax support by at least 10 per cent nationally and has tasked all councils with developing their own local schemes.
Councillor Neil Dallen, chairman of the strategy and resources committee, said: "Your feedback will help the council make an informed decision about the best possible scheme for Epsom and Ewell residents, so do take part."
