Last Friday (13th September), Epsom & St. Helier University Hospitals Trust held their Volunteers Tea Party at Epsom Grandstand which is a lovely venue with views all over London and the surrounding areas. The sun shone and it was so pleasant sitting on the balcony having a drink before going in for tea.
The Trust use this occasion to present awards to long serving volunteers.
This year Epsom Medical Equipment Fund had three volunteers celebrating long service. Joan Chapman who most people will know from our Charity Car Boot Sales celebrated 18 years receiving the Trust’s 15 year award, with Pat Ridgewell who runs the Tuesday and Saturday tombola clocking up 25 years whilst Bess Harding picked up a 40 year fund raising award.
Retiring Chairman, Lawrence Newman presented the framed certificate to Bess watched by Chief Executive Daniel Elkeles and MP Chris Grayling. Chris Grayling then made a very nice speech about Bess and her activities in the community which he said are much appreciated.
We love the great local businesses and community
