A real-life Adrian Mole has been named runner-up in a National Young Writers’ Award.
10-year-old Eliot Beresford, of Copse Edge Avenue in Epsom, came second in the competition held by Explore Learning - an organisation providing extra-curricular activities and tuition for students.
The Wallace Fields Junior School pupil fought off tough competition from children all over the country with his funny story about Queen Victoria and Henry VIII being transported to a modern family home and discovering the joys of ready meals and magical light switches.
Eliot said: "When I found out I had won, I felt very happy and proud. It has encouraged me to write more stories."
The competition was judged by bestselling author of the Spy Dog series, Andy Cope.
Explore Learning has a centre in the Sainsbury’s in Kiln Lane, Epsom. Call 01372 722994 for more information.
