The evening of 16th November saw eight instrumentalists and five vocalists from local schools competing for the title of Young Musician of the Year. This year the competition was held atEpsomCollege and was well attended.
This is a very popular local competition held annually to showcase musically talented school children who attend schools in Epsom and the local area. The competition is sponsored by Epsom Rotary Club. A spokesperson for the Club said “We had a wonderful evening of music listening to some great performers. It is always an inspiring evening and this one was up among the greats”.
The two winners this year were Rhea Tompsett and Barnaby Fildes on alto sax and voice respectively The Mayor and Mayoress of Epsom and Ewell were present at the event and the Mayor presented the certificates (Rhea and Barnaby are pictured with the Mayor). A big vote of thanks was given to the competitors, the organisers, the judges andEpsomCollegefor hosting for making it such a great evening.
