Although a little chilly – it was a clear and dry night – so that was a very good start.
I joined the parade at Upper High Street Car Park as they waited to start – and guess who was there to help us on our way…
Dancing to ” All I want for Christmas”, and very ably supported by a great bunch from Laine Theatre Arts – he kept us all warm ready for the parade – the folks from Hobbeldown joined in and we even had the street cleaning carts ‘Sammy the Sweepers’ bedecked in tinsel, and 2 big red and shiny fire engines.
Lots of families – and community groups walked their way into the town centre – and at the Lester Bowden Corner there was a large crowd to greet them.
Local lad James Peters, winner of the Epsom & Ewell Young Volunteer of the Year Sports Award, switched on the Epsom Christmas Tree Lights accompanied by the Mayor Cllr Colin Taylor, using the PLUNGER (sponsored by KT Partnership) and Theo The Magician.
CHRISTMAS TREE LIGHTS SWITCH-ON VIDEO
Lots of entertainment – including Santa’s Grotto – very very popular, stalls and food – and of course some great music and performances – compared by Theo The Magician (sponsored by TWM Solicitors) – and the Snow Dome (jointly sponsored by thebestofepsomandewell and Epsom & Ewell Council).
The Sunnybank Trust were there – also Epsom Coaches with a very twinkly elf – and a tinsel clad coach, and of course our Chrismassy smart car.
Got a snippet of Barcoda – and have to say I thought they were great – a real Party Band!!
