A message from Karen Pengelly, the Epsom BID Manager.
I wanted to let you know that Epsom has entered South East in Bloom for 2021. Epsom & Ewell Borough Council submitted the entry form recently with judging due to take place at the very end of June or in early July. This is the first time in many years that Epsom has entered the competition and we are aiming high!
Epsom in Bloom will be officially launched on Saturday 15th May with a stall will be in the marketplace, handing out free packs of seeds and launching several competitions for everyone in Epsom to take part in. It’s a positive, accessible project that the whole community can get involved in. If you would like to be involved with the launch event, please do get in touch.
Go Epsom is working very closely with Epsom & Ewell Borough Council to create new planting schemes and spaces, we are hoping for community groups to get involved, there are lots of opportunities to get involved in planting, volunteering and improving local biodiversity.
Points are awarded by the judges not just for planting schemes but for environmental and community projects too, the more engagement the community has with Epsom in Bloom, the more points we are awarded.
There will be displays, shop windows and floral decorations in the town as well as planting schemes. New Social media pages will be created specifically for Epsom in Bloom to spread the word and ensure maximum participation in the competitions, (always being mindful of Covid 19 regulations).
