Hundreds of visitors flocked to the Epsom Garden Society’s autumn show in beautiful sunshine, topping off "a brilliant 80th anniversary year" for the group.
The free event was held at St Martin’s Junior School, in Ashley Road, Epsom, on Saturday, September 15, and had an exquisite mix of autumn flowers, fruit and vegetables on display, alongside workshops, classes and competitions.
Epsom and Ewell mayor, Councillor Christine Long, visited the show during the afternoon and presented the prizes.
Jill Farnham, Epsom Garden Society Show secretary, said the society was very pleased with the show.
She said: "It’s been a difficult year for growing fruit and vegetables this year. We had the lovely hot spot at the beginning of the year and then rain and cold when everything should have been springing into life.
"But the vegetable judge was very complimentary, especially about the apples and tomatoes on display.
"The judges were also very complimentary about the children’s exhibit which they described as very imaginative.
"We have had record entries this year - more than 110 children entered, which is phenomenal as shows usually only have one or two entries from children, and more than 550 adults entered.
