Did you know that there’s a convenient and quick way to book appointments with your GP practice online? Or that you can order repeat prescriptions and securely view some of your GP records electronically without needing to ring, or visit, your GP surgery?
NHS Surrey Downs Clinical Commissioning Group is launching an awareness campaign to encourage local people to sign up for GP online services. It’s part of a national NHS initiative to offer more convenience, choice and control in how people access GP services. And best of all the service is free!
Anyone who is registered with a GP can have access to their practice’s online services via a computer, tablet or smartphone – whichever way you prefer.
You can register for GP online services by following four easy steps:
1. Tell your practice you would like to start using GP online services
2. Complete a short form
3. Return the form to the practice. You will need to take one form of photo ID and a proof of address with you. If you don’t have any ID the practice will need to confirm your identity or you may need to answer questions about personal information in your GP record
4. Once you’ve signed up you will receive a letter with your unique username and password, and also a link to where you can log in.
Dr Claire Fuller, Clinical Chair at Surrey Downs CCG, said: “With people leading increasingly busy lives, sometimes it can be hard to find time to contact your GP practice to book an appointment or order a repeat prescription. If you haven’t already signed up for GP online services, it is a quick, easy and secure way of accessing your surgery from wherever you may be. You can still make your appointments in person or over the phone if you would prefer but feedback from those who use GP online services has been very positive.”
