A project which aims to enhance and restore parts of the countryside will be working in Nonsuch Park next week.
The park is the new site for volunteers from the Lower Mole Project to carry out woodland and rideside management.
Owned by Surrey County Council and joint managed by Epsom and Ewell and Sutton councils, the plans include widening the main public access route from the mansion house.
It is hoped that widening the route by five metres either side will allow in light, drying out the track ready for re-surfacing in the spring, with woodland and scrub on each side being coppiced and cleared.
Volunteers will be carrying out this work on Tuesday 20, Wednesday 21 and Thursday 22 November and will meet at Mansion House car park, off Ewell Rd, Cheam at 10am. For more information phone 01372 743 783.
The Lower Mole Countryside Management Project began in 1983 and was the first such project to be established in north Surrey, with volunteers working four days a week to improve the countryside.
