HUNDREDS of people and more than 50 local businesses have helped raise more than £5,000 in support of a specialist school in Tadworth for children with profound autism.
The Friends of Papillon House School charity held a Christmas fair on December 1 and was delighted with the overwhelming response and support.
Catherine Potter, chair of the charity, said: “For a small charity we have raised a big amount.
"We are absolutely thrilled by the support we have received from local businesses.
"We are especially grateful to our sponsor, Fizz Experience of Dorking.”
The fair saw parents donating prizes for the raffle and tombola.
All funds raised will go towards equipment needed for the 30 pupils at the school, like a special needs trampoline.
