Princess Beatrice visits charity for children with brain injury in Surrey
HRH Princess Beatrice made a special visit to The Children’s Trust, the UK’s leading charity for children with brain injury, earlier today (17th Nov).
The Princess was greeted by HM Lord-Lieutenant for Surrey, Michael More-Molyneux, Dalton Leong, Chief Executive at The Children’s Trust and Michael Gercke, Vice Chair of Trustees, and was presented with a small bouquet of flowers by George, who attends The Children’s Trust School.
The Princess had a tour around The Children’s Trust’s national specialist centre in Tadworth, Surrey, and spoke with staff, volunteers, children and parents. It is the second time Her Royal Highness has visited the charity as Princess Beatrice received a tour of The Children’s Trust in 2012.
One of the parents that Princess Beatrice met was Abby Henry, whose son Freddie is staying at The Children’s Trust after he was left with a severe brain injury. Abby said: “Being able to meet the Princess was amazing. She was very interested to hear about Freddie and the care that he has received at The Children’s Trust. We’re delighted to have been invited along for this special day."
Dalton Leong, chief executive of the charity, said: "We were so pleased that Princess Beatrice wanted to come and see first-hand how we support children affected by brain injury and neurodisability. She was very interested to learn that the families we support come from all over the UK to access our specialist services.
“The Princess’ visit was a wonderful occasion for the children, young people, families, staff and volunteers."
Set up in 1984, The Children’s Trust gives children and young people with brain injury and neurodisability the opportunity to live the best life possible by providing specialist rehabilitation, education and community services across the UK. For more information visit www.thechildrenstrust.org.uk
