‘Let’s Talk About Recycling’ in Epsom & Ewell

Recycle Week 16-22 June 2014

Recycling Week 16-22 June, aims to help raise awareness of recycling across the UK. 

This year, Epsom & Ewell Borough Council is organising various events across the Borough throughout the week which include: 

• Swap it! Tuesday 17 June, 10am – 6pm: Come along to Bourne Hall and swap unwanted items for something useful.
• Love Food Hate Waste – Thursday 19 June, 10am – 6pm: Visit The Market Place by the Epsom Clock Tower and find out how you can recycle and minimise food waste.
• Recycle More! Friday 20 June, 10am – 6pm: Drop by Sainsbury’s in Kiln Lane, Epsom to find out more about the Council’s recycling services and if you need new containers you can order these as well.
• Small electrical items collection – Saturday 21 June, 10am – 6pm: Bring along to The Market Place by the Epsom Clock Tower your unwanted small electrical items for a free collection.

Councillor John Beckett, Chairman of the Environment Committee said, "Recycle Week has been held for a decade and its mission has been to encourage us to recycle more. So to find out more, why not take part in the events being held across the Borough and join people across the UK in this recycling blitz.” 

With the Council's range of recycling services you could recycle around 60% of your household waste:

• Food waste recycling - weekly collections of food waste for recycling.
• Kerbside box and bag recycling - weekly recycling of white paper, glass, cans, textiles and household batteries.
• Cardboard, cartons and plastic recycling - fortnightly recycling of cardboard, cartons and all plastic.
• Garden waste recycling - fortnightly subscription service to recycle garden waste.
• Seasonal leaf recycling - fortnightly subscription service to recycle leaves from September to February.
