A big thank you to everyone who came along to our event in the Ashley Centre on Wednesday, and had a free ECG with Epsom hospital’s Cardiology team.

During the 3 hour event we saw 108 individuals, and found 3 new cases of undiagnosed Atrial Fibrillation and 5 other cases of pulse irregularities, which require follow-up. All individuals with irregularities have been reviewed by a member of Epsom’s Cardiology team and have been given a follow-up form, together with a copy of their ECG to take to their GP.

This means a possible 8 Strokes prevented…so please, if you’ve never been checked, speak to your GP at your next appointment, as it really could save your life! We will be out and about again in June, doing more ECGs, pulse checks and teaching people how to check an eye on their own pulse.

A big thank you to Rosemary and Jane from the Surrey ASG, to Abhay Bajpai, Consultant Cardiologist, and Raj Mungar and Stephanie Cruikshank, Arrhythmia Nurses from Epsom Hospital, and to Mark and Ash from Southern Tutors, who kindly volunteered their time and equipment so that this event was possible.

From all at Surrey Downs CCG
