Epsom and Ewell Energy Group
The Epsom & Ewell Energy Group was set up in June 2006, to provide much needed advice on energy topics, and to be a forum for local residents interested in all things related to energy. Climate change and fossil fuels are so much in the news now that many more people are becoming aware of energy, and our use of it. However, there is no easy way for most people to find out just what they can realistically do about their contribution to climate change, and no centre for advice or information within the borough.
The Energy Group hopes to be able to provide information on a wide range of topics, such as choice of boiler, house insulation, choice of appliances, installing solar water heating or other alternative technologies, choice of energy supplier – and many more. Perhaps we will extend to wider lifestyle choices, such as which car to buy, the energy involved in everyday consumption, or cutting down on the energy used by “food miles”.
The Energy Group has regular meetings every 4 – 6 weeks, to which anyone interested is welcome. There is also a small Committee, to carry out the necessary administration and facilitate the efficient running of the group.
Meetings are held at Atkins, Woodcote Grove, Ashley Road, at 7.30pm. There is no charge. Meetings are informal, and open to all. We hope to have outside speakers at some meetings, to cover a range of topics. We also see the meetings as a forum for sharing ideas, experience and enthusiasm.
