2012 is our Year - Exeter's Year

I don’t know about the rest of you, but I have started 2012 with optimistic enthusiasm. I haven’t suffered those post Christmas blues as severely as I have in the past. I can’t put my finger on why or how . . . but. . . I like it.

I have always firmly believed that the South West, Exeter in particular, has not suffered the effects of the recession/ credit crunch/economic disaster (or whatever you want to call it) as many have and it is the negative press that has dragged us into the doldrums. We have all been scare mongered and I totally agree with Andy McCreadie, Sandler Training, when he confidently announced at a recent networking lunch, “People are still spending money”.  I sincerely hope that Andy gets to read this; he has a wonderful demeanour and presentation style that breeds confidence.

I certainly share this optimism and I find networking events a welcome oasis-like haven from the bombardment of negative economic press. I find that positivity is endearing in people and this can only translate into positive results both in achieving your personal and business goals.

Goals are important and we each learn this at every sales course or seminar we attend. That said, when you add in pride, ambition, knowledge, love, ingenuity, skill and eagerness, you have a world beating recipe for success in all aspects of our lives. I can guarantee that all of us can boast at least some of the aforementioned qualities, the rest of which can and will be picked up by our colleagues, partners and families. This is why Exeter is one in a proverbial million and continues to have a thriving business community; we will always help each other out.

Northcott Beaton are a local, family run business that totally subscribe to doing business locally and it is of the utmost importance that Exeter builds on these unyielding qualities to be a stronger, healthier and more industrious city than ever before.

2012 is an ideal opportunity for growth, we’ve done consolidation . . . it’s boring and doesn’t get you anywhere, literally. I have set myself some massive challenges this year and you should too. Show everyone what you have got to bring to the party and let’s really make this one to remember.

Every bursted bubble has a glory!
Each abysmal failure makes a point!
Every glowing path that goes astray,
Shows you how to find a better way.
So every time you stumble never grumble.
Next time you'll bumble even less!
For up from the ashes grow the roses of success!
