Exeter-based web design company Daneswood have announced the launch of a new website for Whetman Pinks, the UK’s leading breeder and propagator of award winning perfumed Pinks and Dianthus with a worldwide reputation for quality. Whetman have been the main grower and distributor of scented Pinks in the UK since 1936 with more than 70 varieties of their award winning plants. The new website has been developed to coincide with the launch of their new Dianthus ‘Memories’ which has been an award-winning plant at this year’s RHS Chelsea Flower Show.
Daneswood first developed an online shop for Whetman back in 2007 and their online presence has continued to grow since then. As the company’s reach has extended worldwide in recent years, the website has been extensively redesigned and extended to provide a stylish and functional site to complement the quality of their plants.
Dianthus Memories ('WP11 Gwe04') from Whetman Pinks with its striking white, strongly perfumed flowers and grey foliage took second place in the prestigious Plant of Year at RHS Chelsea Flower Show 2012.
Dianthus’ MemoriesPBRwill be sold for the first time in May 2012 and Whetman Pinks, as a member of the BNCS, will donate to Alzheimer’s Society all royalties collected together with all additional voluntary contributions received from the sales of MemoriesPBR until December 2013. Their target is £15,000.00.
BBC television personality Angela Rippon is to receive the new Memories Pinks on behalf of Alzheimer's Society presented by the Dowager Lady Salisbury. The big launch will take place at the Royal Horticultural Society Chelsea Flower Show coinciding with Dementia Awareness Week which runs from 21-26 May 2012.
Alzheimer’s Society will appoint one of their ambassadors to receive Memories from the Patron of the British National Carnation Society at the show.
