The local Express & Echo newspaper is featuring their work throughout March and readers are invited to vote for their favourite. The 2016 competition has a botanical theme and the shortlisted entries are:

• 21 Group of Artists, Bovey Tracey
• Alphington Art Group, Exeter
• Flying Colours, Teignmouth
• Macula Collective, Exmouth
• Newton Abbot Art Group
• Tiverton Art Society
• Village Art, Colaton Raleigh

Votes must be made on original coupons taken from the newspaper and sent to the Express & Echo to arrive by noon on Thursday 31 March. The winning group will be announced on April 7.

Rosie Denham, Lead Councillor for Economy and Culture, explains: “Exeter City Council is delighted to be working with the Express & Echo to help recognise, reward and foster creativity in the city. This annual competition allows us to give recognition to the work of local art groups, help broaden appreciation of the wealth of local talent and give one group the opportunity to display their best work in perfect surroundings. Complementing the International Garden Photographer of the Year exhibition in April and Botanical Drawings in June, this year’s competition has a botanical theme.”

Previous winners are Topsham Art Group (2015), Sense (2014), Hive Art Group (2013) and Fairstream Arts (2012).
