At a time when farming in Devon is going through a very difficult patch due to rock-bottom commodity prices, the launch of the Awards is an opportunity to turn the spotlight onto some of the many positive and exciting things that are happening on farms in Devon, including:
- the way in which it is younger farmers who, increasingly, are leading the way forward;
- the opportunities represented by renewable energy from waste, via anaerobic digestion (Mr and Mrs Clapp will shortly be commissioning their own AD plant on the farm);
- how farmers in Devon are managing to beat the commodity price crunch, by using entrepreneurial flair to make the most of the county’s natural advantages.
The Devon Farm Business Awards are organised by a partnership of the Addington Fund, Stephens Scown Solicitors and Devon County Agricultural Association, all of whom will be represented at the launch.
