The DAA Lottery was launched in 2001 and in 2015 it contributed sales over £1.6 million to the charity which is funded solely by donations from the general public and local businesses. To date it has contributed in excess of £12 million to the cause clearly demonstrating its significance to DAA’s fundraising target of £5.5 million every year.
DAA Fundraising Director Caroline Creer said: “Our Lottery is run in-house at DAA’s headquarters and supported by a group of dedicated canvassers and over 70 agents across the county. They are all doing a tremendous job in signing up new members and raising awareness of the cause.
“Just three years ago we had around 23,000 members, but thanks to our supporters, we now have over 35,000 playing every week, helping to keep Devon’s two air ambulances flying. We have celebrated this fantastic result with a new look for DAA’s Lottery branding and a big thank you to all our members – old and new.”
Membership requires a small commitment of £1 per lucky number a week. 90% of members pay by standing order which also helps the charity as it greatly reduces administration costs.
The Lottery draw takes place each Friday with winning numbers randomly drawn via specialised computer software. The weekly prizes range from a jackpot of £1,350, to £135 second and third prizes and a further 10 prizes of £50. An average of 75p goes straight back to the Charity.
