Did you know? In 1992 Farnham twinned with Andernach in Germany, a beautiful and charming town located in the Rhine Valley.

Andernach is a town of approximately 30,000 inhabitants, situated towards the end of the Neuwied basin on the left Rhine bank between the former tiny fishing village Fornich in the north and the mouth of the small river Nette in the south east, just 13 miles north of Koblenz. Andernach is one of the oldest towns in Germany, founded by the Romans  in 12BC on an old Celtic settlement site making it more than 2000 years of age
It has a medieval town wall and many historic buildings.  The centre of the town is pedestrianised and the Rhine gardens are claimed to be the most beautiful on the Middle Rhine.  The town is close to many areas of great beauty and interest on the Rhine and Moselle and in the neighbouring hills.
