What are Invisalign and how do they work?
Invisalign is a type of orthodontic treatment that helps to straighten teeth without the use of typical metal braces. It is discreet as the aligners are almost transparent.
Using advanced three-dimensional computer-imaging to plan your Invisalign treatment, from the initial position of your teeth to the final desired result, a series of clear aligners are then custom made from a strong thermoplastic material to fit snugly over your teeth and move them precisely and predictably into position.
The aligners are removed to eat, drink, brush and floss so unlike traditional metal braces, you don’t need to restrict your consumption of your favourite foods, which could cause them to break.
How long do Invisalign take?
Each aligner moves certain teeth, as per the Invisalign treatment plan for that particular stage and is worn for up to two weeks before being replaced by the next in the series. This results in an efficient force delivery system that moves teeth into their projected position in 6–18 months.
