Take part in Phyllis Tuckwell’s sponsored Walk for the Wards and you can raise money to help fund local Hospice Care, as you enjoy a peaceful ramble through some of Surrey’s finest countryside.
This annual fundraising event offers both five and ten mile routes, both of which start from the Tilford Institute in Tilford, near Farnham. It kicks off at 9.30am and you can complete it at your leisure, but with a cream tea for all participants on offer at the end, you might want to get into your stride from the off!
The money which you and your fellow Walk for the Wards walkers raise will help fund the local Hospice Care which Phyllis Tuckwell provides for patients and families who are facing a terminal illness, such as cancer. They offer not only medical and nursing care, but also therapies, counselling, social work advice and practical support, and they care for over 250 patients and families each and every day. However, as the NHS/Government only covers 20% of their costs, they have to raise over £15,000 a day to be able to do this – so they need your help.
Walk for the Wards registration is £12 for adults, and £5 for children under 14. Fees will be higher on the day, so register now online or get in touch by calling 01252 729446 or emailing fundraising@pth.org.uk
