Helped by the beautiful weather and high numbers of exhibitors and attendees, the day was a huge success and a great example of local people raising money to support a local charity.
“Once again, our sincere thanks go to the White Dove committee, whose continued support is much appreciated,” said Laura Moody, Events Fundraising Manager at Phyllis Tuckwell. “The money raised will go towards funding the vehicles which we use to transport patients to and from the Hospice and Beacon Centre, and which our second-hand Furniture Shops use to collect and deliver items of furniture.”
Phyllis Tuckwell and The White Dove committee would like to thank all those who contributed to the success of the day, including Grizzly Tools, Thorne Leggett, Forest Motors, Motor-Link Distribution, North Hants Tyres and BRCC Classic Cars who all sponsored the event. Also Alistair Blaber, Paul Fitchett from Paul Fitchett Images for taking photos on the day, and Echoes of Elvis, The TCC Band and That Sound for providing musical entertainment. The White Dove committee would also like to thank their family and friends for all their continued support of this event.
Events such as this Transport Show are vital to Phyllis Tuckwell, which provides supportive and end of life care for patients and families affected by cancer, or another serious progressive illness. Every day the charity supports over 250 patients and relatives, through a mix of medical care, nursing, therapies, counselling, social work and practical support, but as the NHS/Government only covers 20% of its costs, it has to raise over £15,000 a day to do this. The White Dove committee is looking for a secretary and extra hands to help them with future events – please contact John Turner on 01420 473062 or email whitedoveevents@hotmail.co.uk if you are interested.
