In my last blog I recalled Rene my friendly Mayor taking my plans away with him to put it before the planning committee.
After several weeks passed, I received a phone call from Rene. He informed me that the application had been provisionally turned down. When I asked the reason why he told me the planning people did not like the idea of red roof tiles, as in Normandy they are traditionally grey slate. They also thought the building was being lengthened by too large an amount as it was such a small building to start with.
Rene did say however that they were impressed with the fact that I would be using the same type of granite stones for the extension and would be putting back the old oak gable end. Rene rang off saying he would be taking it to a higher level planning meeting and would personally recommend the project go ahead.
